  1. Photographer required for black tie event tomorrow night (15/12) 7-11:30pm in Sheffield city centre, event photography and rolling group shots. Payment is available but it is a charity event, any help would be great! Please contact Phil on 07941844913
  2. There's a handy map with flood warnings and their areas here too: http://www.shoothill.com/flood/
  3. I was split between the Galaxy SII and the Sensation and went with the Sensation because of the better battery life, build quality, screen resolution and Sense amongst other things. I'm sure everything's debatable but I easily get 1.5 days of good usage and with it's gorilla glass screen and aluminium back doesnt feel like flimsy plastic which works for me and I'd highly recommend it. In fact after playing with mine my Mrs made the jump and got one after previously hating things with touchscreens and saying she'd never go near one, she loves hers now.
  4. Blackberrys are going one way, downwards, although I've never seen the attraction in the first place personally.
  5. Get as good a netbook as you can and install the latest open source version, dual boot it if you must. Hexxeh's builds are right up to date: http://chromeos.hexxeh.net/ PS, Apple are probably Samsung's biggest customer
  6. Have you had a search on here for amateur dramatics? I think there'll be quite a few of those type groups around, here's one example: http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=461650&highlight=amateur+theatre
  7. Ah well, have you looked at the uni gym? I believe the gym at Collegiate's been redone since I was there but that didnt have anything you'd want anyway, although there is a seriously good gym there which some sports teams might get access to if you plan on playing anything? If not the uni gym down at Pond St(?) has got most things, def proper bar bel and dumb bells, squat rack, cant remember pullup or dip but would expect them to be there. Drop an email to sport hallam and they'll let you know. It gets busy at certain hours but I used to go 7-9am and it was fine then so will depend on your schedule.
  8. I dont think there's anything stopping women playing with the men, facebook sheffield predators they should be able to tell you for sure.
  9. There's got to be plenty of societies at uni that you'd be interested in surely? From what I remember they have one for pretty much everything under the sun
  10. If you plan on tramming in to work the gym at Don Valley should suit your needs which is one of the 4 fitness unlimited venues so pretty cheap and only 10mins out on the tram, or you could drive if it's on your commute. They've got pretty much everything you mention, big dumb bells, olympic bar or two, pullup area and I think a couple of squat racks. I'm pretty sure they could tell you what exactly over the phone and probably arrange a trial pass or similar if you get chance to come up in the meantime.
  11. Yeh that's made by Netgear, I've just pulled mine out and replaced it for a Superhub actually, seems fine so far:
  12. Oddly enough their mail's actually powered by Gmail, I think the faults are to do with the web platform though.
  13. You wanted to know how to make it, now dubstep's not my thing but in the areas of EDM that I do know well it's very rare for a DJ to get anywhere via mixing skills alone. It depends where you set your sights though, if you think DJing at a student union and the odd bar every week is making it then you dont need my advice you need to network and get your face and music around town. It used to be ok to just play good tunes, these days it's far more than that if you really want to be successful. I've a lot of friends who you might say are successful DJs in the north west (promote and play regular club nights, radio work etc) although I wouldnt necessarily say they've made it as most of them have other jobs to go back to during the week and they're not yet names on the national scene. 3 weeks is nothing btw if you want to make a name for yourself or money out of something, how much time have you spent learning how to mix properly? If that's your attitude to a potential career you've no chance.
