  1. Hi I appreciate this may not be of interest to everyone and is aimed more at those involved in or interested in the tattoo/body mod scene. Wiseguys Ink in Rotherham will be having the amazing Boff Konkerz guesting with them on Friday and Saturday the 3rd & 4th October. Some of you may be familiar with hand poked tattoo work of Boff but for those of you that aren't go check out his web http://www.boffkonkerz.com. If you fancy getting an awesome hand poked piece of tattoo art from one of the best in the industry you can contact Wiseguys Ink on their Facebook page or by calling the studio on 01709 820192. This is the first time Boff has visited the region and I doubt he'll be back this way for sometime.
  2. Does anyone know if there is somewhere I can take my girlfriend for a 1950's makeover and photo shoot in or around Sheffield? she love the style and look of that era and as an Xmas present I would really like to get her a pamper package type thing but I'm struggling to find anywhere. Thanks for any advice you may be able to give
  3. Thanks for that ECCOnoob, I appreciate that until all my medical reports have been finalised a solicitor may not want to commit themselves or may be concerned about raising any expectations on my part in relation to financial settlement but because my case is pretty large and complex I was hoping some one may be able to give me a very rough indication as to the potential settlement so as I could better gauge my solicitors performance and ability. Hopefully Moosey may be able to assist with this.
  4. Hi Moosey Thanks for that. I will obviously be contacting another Solicitor if I can get a steer on if my current solicitor is perhaps not aiming for the level of compensation I perhaps deserve. I'll drop you a PM with the details of my case and injuries although I haven't been given full access to my medical reports, is this something i should have in my possession? Thanks West
  5. I've been persuing a personal injury claim for almost 17 months but my solicitor is still unable to provide me with ball park figure as to what I may be entitled to. When pressured he!s stating figures that I'm not entirely hey with as they sound a bit too low. I was wondering if anyone on here can recommend a trusted successful personal injury lawyer that they may have experience of? I know there are a few threads on here regarding something similar but they all seem a little dated. Thanks West
  6. Thanks crazybaby. I don't suppose you remember any of the book titles at all? I've looked for support/discussion groups in the surrounding areas but come up with nothing. A lot of the websites I've looked at have a spiritual/religious feel and it's really not that that I'm looking for, more along the lines of helping me understand the way I feel and hopefully to help me justify the thoughts and feelings I now have. Thanks again.
  7. Does anyone on here know of any NDE support or advice groups in or around sheffield? I was involved in a pretty bad accident last year and although I'm more or less back to normal I've noticed that I'm a very different person now than I was before my experience and wondered if there was any support out there for people going through such an experience. Thanks
  8. For those asking about recommendations for tattooists, bear in mind that whatever you have done will be with you forever, unless you want o go through some drawn out, expensive, painful removal sessions that won't ever fully remove the tattoo. There are a lot of tattooist around these days, if you truely want an amazing tattoo do some homework and look around. a huge proportion of the people recommended on here are only mediorce when it comes to tattooing - there are a handful of people in Sheffield that are really good. If you want something AMAZING then be prepaid to wait and be prepaired to pay, it'll be worth it. A tattooist will be able to fit you in on that day and may charge between £20 -£50 ph, a tattoo artist may well have a lengthy waiting list and will could charge between £50 - £200ph.
  9. Another vote here for Meadowfresh in Chesterfield - their pies and stake slices are top notch, pastry is fantastic and the quality of meat and the amount they cram in is unbeatable. Also if your going to travel in to Chesterfield then Jacksons bakers on low Pavement do some of the best pork pies I've ever tasted.
  10. Hi I haven't taken part in the Lantern Parade as such but seen it for the last 2 years - it tends to be part of the Garden of Light show they hold in Queens Park, the kids and parents parade through Chesterfield town and end in Queens Park where there are food stalls, shows, light displays and a fair. It's pretty well managed and a good atmosphere. Hope that helps
  11. To be fair the kid may be really talented, until he displays some work then I guess it's difficult to judge. As for people loving a tattoo they have for the rest of their life, that's all well and good, although this doesn't mean that's it a good tattoo - i.e. technically well done, fits the area of body where it's positioned, has good contrast between the colours used, if copied from a picture how well the original is reproduced. You can walk down most high streets in Britain and see people with terrible tattoo's (namely tribal and names of children in horrific looking text down forearms) proudly on display which I'm sure they love - although they are not good tattoo's by any means. I'm not a tattooist but I have been getting tattooed for around 16 years, I've got a fair few, I've had them done by about 10 different artists (some are terrible, so are great), had tattoo's done in different countries and have friends that are tattooists from around the globe. I'm lucky enough to have had tattoos done that have won awards and been pictured in several magazines. I've done a lot of reading on different tattoo methods, inks and history and feel confident that I am able to tell a decent tattoo from a not so decent tattoo. The sad thing is that any one with an eBay account can become a 'tattooist' these days - half of these morons have never had an apprenticeship, aren't health authority certified and give hard working, well trained tattooist a bad name. The 'general public' are led to believe that any one with a tattoo gun can do a good tattoo, but I guess each individual will have their own perception of what a good tattoo is, time and education can often change this perception although that is of no use for the customer that wants 'Chantelle' in Olde English down their forearm. In my opinion (and it is only my opinion) if I HAD to have a tattoo done in Sheffield the ONLY 3 places I would even consider would be 1) Thou Art - mainly due to the awesome guest spots this place keeps having 2) Feline - their reputation speaks for themselves and 3) 5 Magics tattoo (although I'm not a huge lover of Old School stuff). That said the girl based in Crystal Peaks (sorry can't remember her name) shows some promise - saw her work at the Derby Tattoo convention. If you want a truly awesome tattoo, that you want to be proud to display and love for the rest of your life, get yourself on the net, do some research and be prepared to travel.
  12. Farhad No nutshell, I'm not suggesting anything at all apart from that the title of this thread is very misleading. I've seen all the footage of Muay Thai Vs Karate (and TKD for that matter) I care to see and I think the evidence of the outcomes is out there for anyone else that cares to see it. A show in Sheffield showcasing a Karate competitor and a Muay Thai competitor (probably both of whom have never acheived much on a world class international circuit so don't have the credentials to prove the point your post would claim to make) isn't going to achieve waht the title of this thread claims it can. I'll wait and see what competitors actually coem forward for this before I buy a ticket, I'm sure if you were to stump up a decent purse this could be made interesting, could be. PS. Youtube may have already proved your opinion wrong.
  13. To be honest it won't prove a thing apart from who was the better figther in the ring during a bout under 'Oriental Rules'. It's a little like saying a mountain biker competing against road cyclist although both riders competing a on BMX - yes the rules may have similarities to each competitors main background discipline although it won't give an indication as to if Mountain bikers are better cyclist than road cyclists. The whole 'which style is better' thing has been done to death, quite recently on Ax which you've probably seen and been inspired by. I've got to admit I'm no expert on these 'Oriental rules' you speak of although I'm led to believe there is no clinch allowed, no elbow or knee's to the head, so if fairness it's very different from competing under Mauy Thai rules. Sorry, I meant that if someone knew they were going to be competing in a competion that was to be judged under K1 rules then they may alter their normal way of training to incorporate more technicques that better lend themselves to the K1 way of scoring, or in this case 'Oriental Rules'. The title of the thread reads as if you are putting a fight together with a Karate practitioner and a Muay Thai practioner both being allowed to use their full skill set - which your not. A more fitting title would be 'Oriental Rules comes to Sheffield'. The only way to determne which style is better is to let those 2 styles fight it out - which is where youtube comes in handy.
  14. Farhad What rules are these fights taking place under? I'd love to think that it would be a case of a Karate practitioner taking on a Muay Thai practitioner both using their own skill sets although I doubt this is the case. As Ross says this has happend before, pretty much most of it is available on Youtube. If the fighters are being forced to fight under 1 chossen rule set (say K1) then this doesn't really allow Karate to go up against Muay Thai does it? It's simply a case of someone that has trained in Karate and I assume some K1 taking on someone that has trained in Muay Thai and K1?
