  1. Sounds promising, hopefully Tia has been taken in by this couple and they could be intending to take her to a vet on Monday to be scanned. I don’t think everyone is aware they need to inform the dog warden in these circumstances. I spoke to the owners’ yesterday morning as I heard a dog whimpering in the undergrowth when I was walking mine first thing. I’m having problems with my balance at the moment and wasn’t able to have a good look around at the time. Kay’s husband came out and I showed him where I’d heard the dog but if it was her she must have gone on the move again. Fingers crossed they have some good news soon.
  2. What an absolute tragedy; so very sorry for you, your family and friends. If I can be of any help to run errands, look after pets etc please let me know. God bless, Kerry.
  3. Good news, the posters worked! This little one has been reunited with her family this afternoon. She is called Sally, she’s 18, lives in Whirlow and had wandered quite a distance on those old legs, bless her. Unfortunately, her family thought she had gone away to die but saw one of my posters this morning. I had just laminated another thirty that I was going to put up tomorrow but so pleased that all I have to do now is take them all down. A happy ending for my little house guest!
  4. This lovely lady, had no collar and hasn’t been micro chipped, was in the woods outside my house at approx 6.45pm today. She is extremely thin but very friendly. Dore & Totley vets kindly scanned her just as they were closing and Karl gave her a quick once over. She is so small I thought she was a kitten but she is apparently a dehydrated older lady who has lost some of her teeth. She definitely must have been someone’s pet as she had no problems with getting in and coming out of the cat basket, travelling in the car and loves cuddles. I hope we can reunite her with her owner as she is a lovely little cat. Here are some photos: 1 2 3 4 5
  5. Introducing our new arrivals! One egg hatched, the Maran hybrid at the front, so had to find a little pal; she’s a day older and is a Cream Legbar. I decided on the Legbar as they are an autosexing breed. Chez2, I don’t have any cockerels running with my girls; I buy in supposedly fertile eggs to hatch. Hope you get some Marans sorted.
  6. Thanks for the advice, much appreciated. I thought as we were only on day two of the hatch there was a possibility of saving them. I have Copper Black and Cuckoo Marans, Maran hybrids and my babies: a Light Sussex and three white Araucanas that I hatched myself. The old girls are all rescued and have various minor deformities but have had a few more years of sun on their backs and still seem to be enjoying life. The hatching eggs my broody is sitting on, and I was attempting to incubate, are Maran hybrids. Will post some pics if the broody hatch is successful! Cerid, not sure of the brand of the broken incubator as the bins were emptied today. The new one I have ordered is a Covatutto, will PM you to let you know if it’s a good buy.
  7. That’s so kind of you Chez2, thank-you! It’s a bit late now and the thermometer is reading 38°C; I put them in on Sunday. Do you think they will still be viable if I came over to you tomorrow?
  8. This morning my incubator stopped working, as I couldn’t find my spare bulbs I improvised and stuck them in a heated propagator with a hot pack and nipped out to buy more bulbs. It must be the motor as it’s still not working. This is a big ask; does anyone have a spare incubator that they would be prepared to hire or loan out to me until I get a new one delivered? My broody was happy to sit on another two eggs but still have six that I would like to save if at all possible. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
  9. Your wallet may be lighter But Niamh’s lugs were a priority Where the heck was Dr Greg? Though there’s nowt wrong with variety We’re so glad Niamh is better And no longer feeling sick To make up for your misleading You need to post a pic

  11. I don’t understand your post, Rick. Would you mind clarifying, please?
  12. Rescues are inundated with kittens being dumped by irresponsible owners. Cats and kittens will be health checked and neutered, or a voucher for neutering will be provided if the kittens are too young to undergo the procedure.
