Bus Service Changes From 7 April 2024
NERVY-OWL replied to Andy C's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
Not all the drivers would be using the electric buses, there is the 760/762 school buses, the 181 and 201 so any driver doing those would need a diesel bus, that's why I'd be surprised but who knows.🤔 -

I know but there's been no mention of having to take buses from honley once these new electrics start to accommodate having them in the Sheffield yard. I'd be surprised if the plan when they leased the yard was to use it primarily for the electric buses. Until I hear something concrete I'll be taking it as they'll be anywhere but in the Sheffield yard. -

I'll believe it when I see it. There would be a few drivers that wouldn't be happy signing on for the Sheffield depot only to be told now they have to go to honley to start/finish. Until I'm either told otherwise or read otherwise I'll be assuming they wont be stored at the Sheffield yard. -
Sheffield City Centre's Bus Gate?
NERVY-OWL replied to 26b-6's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
There's at least one big red sign as you come off the roundabout telling you about the bus gate, pretty sure there's the same sign abit further down aswell. -
I've seen how much room there was left with 3 of them there, let alone all four. It's a tiny yard and I'd hazard a guess you might squeeze 2 of the mini buses the company uses in if all the electrics were there aswell, which isn't enough for the other routes. Aswell as that there are no charging points at the yard to charge them overnight. If I'm wrong then fair enough but i just don't see how it would be possible.

Maybe. I know last week was the first time they'd been in Sheffield with SPCT, wether they've had one before that but nothing to do with the bus company I wouldn't know. -
I think I remember the Paris one and maybe one in London. I don't know how long or often they've been running them to know if it's good or bad. There's risk of fire in a combustion engine but wouldn't stop me using my car so I wouldn't be put off using an electric vehicle. I've never seen one go up in flames to know how long but I guess you'd get enough warning to get out in time

They've been in storage at the manufacturer near Scarborough I believe. They were only delivered whichever day it was when all four were in the interchange. -

They will be stored in the interchange as far as I know. There's no way they can fit all four plus any diesel buses needed for other Sheffield routes in the Petre street yard.
