  1. Sorry Maggie it is so long ago I can't remember who was in charge I must have been only about 19yrs old at the time and like a typical youngster didn't take notice as long as my wage packet was correct lol, but that was about 38yrs ago now. Hope you get the info you want, my ex Brother-in-law worked for them for awhile as a driver and I think it was Graham Paramore in charge at that time but that was quite a few years after i'd left there
  2. Thank you Teddybare for your help, I have seen articals stating that those pot herbs you buy in supermarkets can have this problem because they don't sterilize the soil, but not sure how true that is, but we potted these on into compost that was freshly opened for the purpose
  3. Hi, i'm having a similar problem with tiny black flies which seem to gather around the herbs growing [they are the shop bought living plant type herbs] on the kitchen window sill and if you touch or move the herbs these flies will just swarm up, i've started to put the container outside during the day to see it will help, is there anything else I can try?
  4. My ex-Brother-in-law is a Wright, and he had an Uncle Herbert, and an Aunty Gladys [i think] and his Dad was a Wilfred Wright and was the Head Gardener in Chapeltown Park up to his retirement
  5. I used to work albeit briefly at Parramore's on Smith St Chapeltown as a young girl, I worked in the Core Shop at the side of the Foundry making the cores out of sand which was heated up in machines in moulds which were baked then they were used in the foundry
  6. Hi, I remember my Parents used to go to Redgates for some of our Christmas presents, but can't really remember the shop so we must have stayed at home with Grandparents whilst Mum & Dad went, but looking back we often wondered how they managed to make sure all 6 of us Kids had big piles of pressies every year
  7. I remember Boltons Bakery up Burncross Road, I worked there when I was 15 years old from September 1970 - March 1972. Yes I remember Ken & Margaret @ the bakery, & John Taylor the van driver & I think the lady driver was Elsa [not 100% sure on her name].
