  1. I see our fighter planes are being used in attacks again. Is anyone else apart from us and the US doing anything or is it just us in the whole of Europe and Scandinavia who is sticking our neck out because those are the only two I ever hear about?
  2. Thank's nanoffive . Yes phoning is a better way I reckon.
  3. well I might have another go at getting pension credit. I know the last time I checked we were just over the limit but I can't really work out how it works, I mean as an example, if two OAPs live next to each other and one is £1 per week over limit for pension credit and the other gets pension credit and council tax is say £2,000 a year, is the first pensioner immediately about £1,950 a year worse off because his or her neighbour gets council tax covered or is it a sliding scale? Same for savings, is it a sliding scale? Just trying to find out without all the rigmarole of filling the whole blooming forms in on line.
  4. Surely being the city of sanctuary must have made a big difference.
  5. Hi Anna. Well like dentistry, boilers , spectacles , council tax, that sort of thing.
  6. Well I have looked and I can't find an answer to this so does anyone know? I thought the idea of Universal credit, and Pension credit for that matter, was to bring peoples income up to a manageable amount so why all the side benefits?
  7. To us it gets charged at the local call rate but I always go to the surgery in person to book an appointment because the phone usually either times out or all appointments are gone by the time they answer but if it's not 0800 then it's not "free at the point of use".
  8. I think you are right, also the phone number our GP has is a chargeable number and the NHS is supposed to be "Free at the point of use".
  9. Be careful they don't see you though.
  10. I spent $20 once on the $1000,000 jackpot fruit machine at the Tropicana at Las Vegas a few years ago and I did the national lottery the first week it opened. Didn't win owt on either one so I never gambled since.
  11. All wimps anyway because the new fashion from America is branding. I have seen it on people in Miami and New Orleans. Not that I would have either done because I just don't like the look of them.
  12. Well not my GP it was A&E who told me.
  13. Agreed. It makes very little difference here anyway.
  14. No. All my life if I count my average working hours without overtime it works out at 40 hours for which the government quote a minimum of £457 per week therefore each OAP should get a minimum of £457 pw. If they won't pay that then they shouldn't be quoting minimum amounts. As cressida says, it is the lowest pension in the civilised world.
