  1. The numbers relate to the browser plugin version. Whilst Java 7 is still supported, Java 8 has been released. http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre8-downloads-2133155.html Support for Java 7 will run concurrently untill April 2015 (End of Public Updates - April 2015) Get Java from here if required: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre8-downloads-2133155.html
  2. When mbam deletes a file it first copies it to quarantine, renames it, encrypts it and password protects it. There's no way it can then harm your system. This action isn't reversed by uninstalling mbam.
  3. Run AdwCleaner - http://general-changelog-team.fr/fr/downloads/finish/20-outils-de-xplode/2-adwcleaner
  4. Just tick the box and allow Malwarebytes to remove it...
  5. Run AdwCleaner - http://general-changelog-team.fr/fr/downloads/finish/20-outils-de-xplode/2-adwcleaner
  6. If you're comfortable with AVG then why not just use the free version? http://free.avg.com/gb-en/homepage

  10. Bridge (or New Bridge Inn to give it its full title), or Hillsboro' corner. Almost anywhere in the city centre, from the top of West St (Cavendish, Hallamshire etc) to the Old Queens Head in the bus station.
  11. Sounds very much like you've used a download site (eg. CNet) that uses a download wrapper to bundle additional software.
  12. Quite often in tandem with it. "Click this link" leading to a exploit domain.
  13. Exploiting software vulnerabilities is currently the number one way to get malware installed on a machine. http://www.welivesecurity.com/2013/10/30/windows-xp-users-already-facing-malware-invasion-before-microsoft-pulls-plug/
  14. Never blindly believe everything you're told. Read the post above (post #5) and make your own mind up.
  15. That's yet another piece of "Journalism" repeating an article with misconstrued quotes taken out of context. Nowhere do MS say "Windows users should install antivirus above and beyond its own Security Essentials." http://askleo.com/do-i-need-to-stop-using-microsoft-security-essentials/ The real story from MS: http://blogs.technet.com/b/mmpc/archive/2013/10/09/our-commitment-to-microsoft-antimalware.aspx They decided some time ago to stop trying to predict test samples. http://blogs.technet.com/b/mmpc/archive/2013/01/06/customer-focused-prioritization.aspx http://blogs.technet.com/b/mmpc/archive/2013/10/25/our-protection-metrics-september-results.aspx
