  1. Hi All. I left Sheffield in1973, having secured a job which was advertised in the Daily Telegraph, ( nearly got beaten up for reading a "Posh" paper), in Westminster London. I was given a company,(firms) car and paid the enormous salary of £1100 per year. My Grandad said,"tha must 'av moor muney thn soft mick nar thas got't posh job in Lundun". Who was Soft Mick, never did find out ? Mike.
  2. Hi. Anyone remember the Esquire on, I think, Leadmill street ? Late nineteen sixties. We went there every W/End, and the "All Nighters", sublime !! Mike.
  3. Hi Darth. You're right, I spent a few days in Sheffield a couple of years ago and bought some from a pie/pastie shop opposite the Town Hall. It had their own label on it but said Hendersons in small print. Found it quite weak to what I remembered it was like, maybe with time I've forgotten exactly what it was like. Mick. May the force be with you.
  4. We have A Morrisons here in Gorleston but they've never heard of it.
  5. Hi All. Having been away from Sheffield for far too longer a time, I wondered if it was still available. My absolute favourite condiment on fish, meat, pies and owt else I could think of. Alas, I've lost my most of Sheffield accent, ( which I very much regret ), having lived and worked in the south and abroad since 1970 ish so, is owt and nowt still correct,(reyt) ? Mick.
  6. Hi Mick (Scott) I seem to remember that the "Crappers", numbered 3. Herbert, Grenville and Roger. Is that right ? Also do you remember David Palmer, we were good friends on the University job? Mick (Matthews).
  7. Hello All. Just joined the Sheffield Forum today. I am Mike (Mick) Matthews. I worked for Brightside Heat and Vent from about 1963 to about 1969 I remember the jobs at Stanley Works Woodside (Ray Flewitt), Hyde Park flats (Grenville Crapper), Sheff University(Ray Vaughan) and a couple out of town, Union Carbide in Swindon and another in Kirkby Liverpool.
