  1. I have found a young female unchipped cat in the S7 area. She is under 1 year old. She is mostly white with a tabby tail and some other markings. She has likely been missing for a while as she had a bad flea infestation and is underweight. Please message me with pictures of your cat if you think it might be her. Thanks
  2. It was some of the same people. The protest outside of vodaphone and topshop was organised by Sheffield Uncut. This is because Vodaphone owes 6 billion pounds in unpaid tax. I pay my tax and I'm sure you pay yours. http://www.ukuncut.org.uk/targets/4
  3. How very christian of you. To address the 'get a job' brigade. Most of the people demonstrating either with Uk Uncut or Ocuupy Sheffield DO have paid empoloyment i can assure you. This is why you will notice that there will be more people occupying at evenings and weekends than Monday-Friday 9-5. For those of us who are unable to occupy due to work/family/health commitments, we will be supporting Occupy in anyway we can. It seems odd that if people aren't seen to be in tents all night then they 'aren't committed and are just going home to warm beds' and if they are 'they should get a job'.
  4. Sheffield Uncut have done some great anti-cuts/anti tax dodging actions over the last few months. We are currently planning our next action on Saturday 2nd July-it will be a 'teach in' with the theme being the impact of the cuts on education. We are meeting at the cityhall steps at midday-location of action to be decided on the day. If you just want to hand out leaflets outside thats great-we are a friendly bunch interested in lovely peaceful protest and giving information to members of the public. Why are we doing this? Either the tax avoided and evaded in a single year or the taxpayer subsidy to the banking industry could pay for all of the £81bn, four-year cuts programme. At the same time as making massive cuts to public services, this government is letting rich individuals and corporations avoid billions of pounds of tax. According to a HMRC estimate around £42 billion was avoided in 2008-2009. Many big companies use tax havens to avoid hundreds of millions in tax, including AstraZenaca, Barclays, Boots, Diego, Lloyds TSB, Shell, and Tesco. Check out the UKUncut website for more details..it would be lovely to see you there. http://www.ukuncut.org.uk/actions/614 http://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=157930507607924

  7. rest in peace mozaz..sheffield wont be the same without you! x
  8. thats terrible if they are elderly it might be worth contacting age uk to talk about their options.
  9. well a pipe has burst now and there is water pouring through the ceiling-so now we have no water atall-hopefully this will force the hand of the agency a bit-they better get a plumber out today!
  10. Thanks-thats really helpful. I bloody hate being at the mercy of agencies-it just makes me want to scream "this is my home ffs" my housemate is an advice worker so ill get her to sort it!
  11. thanks for that. I guess they would say that we do have hot and cold running water- as we have one tap working upstairs and the shower is running hot-there stance is 'its happening to everyone' whats annoying is that we rent through an agency-but the actual landlord is sound and used to be a plumber and i know he wouldnt mind coming round to have a look and give is some advice-but they refuse to contact him and wont give me his number.
  12. I've had no water downstairs and only cold in the bathroom taps (although the shower is till working since sunday. Have heated up the kitchen with heaters/oven/haridryer but to no avail- so i'm guessing that means that the pipes are frozen outside/under the house? I cant see any obvious water pipes coming into the house to insulate-is there anything else i can do? Its a rented property and the agencies stance is that we just need to put up with it until it gets warmer-but that could be a while!
  13. i've just been thinking this, i dont know my neighbours but would like to help older/vulnerable people who live nearby.
