  1. My son suffers from anxiety, small bout two years ago then one year later (last autumn) he had a massive attack. The first time was around playing football for his team but luckily I had been through CAMHS with my other son for a similar issue but more ocd, I knew techniques to try and followed through which ment making him play, he got through it however then came the school issue and me being away from him for any reason. As soon as I noted it was anxiety I contacted school who were great and I made him go every day, he was physically sick but as CAMHS explained to over come the point of fear that seams so irrational to normal thinking you have to go through it to realise that nothing bad happens and each time you get to the peak of the anxiety it becomes less scary eventually it becomes not scary at all as the brain gets used to it and rationality kicks in somewhat. We had to set targets such as I would leave him for 20 mins to go to shop etc and build it up, it's taken us over a year and he's still not right but he's worked so hard to push through it. We had a mental health nurse assigned to him through mast who was ok, did same as CAMHS really talked through the issues, looking for triggers then discussing triggers and that it's the brain taking over from rational and working on being in control. The school one was awful but I knew I had to send him, I know exactly how you feel when you say it's hard, it's the most mental draining experience that is so time consuming too. Listening to them scream, threaten to kill themselves, hit themselves and be so consumed by the fear of something you don't understand is truly heartbreaking. I've not offered advice more just thought my experience might be of some use, good luck
  2. Contact sheffield admissions also get her to contact her to be local MAST if you google MAST it will give you areas ie east/south etc. They will support in terms of grants, living/benefit support and schooling. The receiving schools may (usually) help with uniform also. you can phone up MAST direct and self refer into the support system.
  3. From what you say 'school' is the issue here, a private nursery no they can not make you access the full 15hrs at all but schools can. You can challenge it and I think a few have won but it's not an easy battle. School nurseries operate exactly same as private nurseries but the maintained schools have slightly different rules.
  4. I saw on here a while ago that sheffield college require dogs for bathing/grooming etc for students on their courses, can anyone pass me on the details or point me in the right direction please as I carnt find the thread anymore or anything on good old google. Thanks
  5. I don't really feel I can add much as I don't want to take any sides but the worry both sides must be feeling for the boy must be high, but basic facts are if you was not married to his father (apologies if I have missed that bit) then he has no parental responsibility for his son legally, the responsibility lies only with you. The law however changed I believe 2003 where if he jointly registered the birth he would then have joint responsibility but due your sons age wether or not he's named on the certificate has no relevance if you was not/never married him. Therefore he could fight to keep him with him but it is not an automatic right for him if you was not married. I hope your boy has a positive future ahead x

  7. Hi, sorry I Carnt help with breeder recommendation as the breeder we got our first Golden retriever from was stopping due to ill health and we got the last pup. Our second one whom we got as a companion for our first was a private sale from an advert as we didnt want a puppy. I've met golden retriever owners who didnt know either about the two forms of GR just look at the build of the parents your wanting show stature wide head the chunky (not meaning fat) the better a thinner faced and more leaner body lends itself to the working breed but that's not a conclusive judgment just my observational experience. I found a book I purchased from Pets at home (years ago mind you) was a great read on the breed. Good luck with finding a breeder of your final choice of breed I know the flat coat retriever owners had to travel far down south to get theirs as of the lack of breeders due to how uncommon they are.
  8. We have 2 golden retrievers, throughout my life I have been around many breeds and loved them all but the golden retriever is by far my favourite for many reasons, but then again it's the owners not the dogs to what they become. Seen as you have had a springer which are beautiful dogs I can assure you that a golden retriever will be a walk in the park as far as giddiness goes. I do know a flat coated retriever to which I admit being slightly jealous of as it is beautiful !! boasting a long, slick and shiny coat with an excellent temprent! Out if the three breeds you have mentioned I would go with a golden or flat coat particularly as you have a young child (nothing against a lab just think they are extremely bouncy and clumsy for a lot longer against the other 2 breeds). If you get a golden please do take note though of the different forms of the breed we have one working golden retriever and one show breed .... Yes they are completely different in build and needs. We didnt know this till we started researching before getting a dog and not many people know. my personal preference is to go with show breed as with kids these are so lazy and just don't give a dam so will saunter along where as the working breed have the hunting instinct in them so standing in a field with a child and one dog AWOL after birds isn't much fun ha ha ha.
  9. We did Pritty much same as above, we had an old piece of carpet and then some tarpoline that we folded down each night then lent some wood against it to help stop drafts and snow! Getting in. We did this all year round to stop fox's trying to get to them aswell. Plus lots and lots of hay
  10. Yes thank you got it, sorry it wouldn't go through from my end appreciate you sending it me. As far as other clubs go I think it's all down to personal opinion, you just have to try the different clubs and choose the one you like, feel comfortable with and get what you want out of it. Everyone goes to clubs for different reasons self defence, fitness, grading etc etc. you Carnt insult clubs you haven't tried like parkgate or frechville until you have been, I did try parkgate and its not 'embarrassing' at all, to be fair very good set up and training. Frechville yes who are they? But don't all clubs have to start somewhere and by someone!! Worth bearing in mind.
  11. Staffietye I have tried pm for number but doesn't seem to be going through!
  12. Ooooo really! Do you have more info on the class ? I have been looking at starting but nearest was in town.
  13. Where abouts at frechville do you know? Do they rent a hall/room or is it a full gym set up? Can I pm you too for number? I've been looking at one at park gate Rotherham but it is a good drive would like one closer like you near s13.
  14. I was in there for nearly a week, it really opened my eyes as to what they have to put up with (staff) as some patients I witnessed coming and going up to the wards just treated them like slaves, shouted at them plus more. I got looked after really well and I valued their support but understood that in HDU it's different to the wards.
