NPressureCS replied to golfman1968's topic in Sheffield Property & Housing
Another recommendation for Bluestone UPVC, did my entire house and it looks amazin! friendly, professional and by far better priced than some of the ridiculous quotes we had! Give Mark a ring you wont be dissapointed! -
Can recommend Mark at Bluestone, did a great job for me replacing all my windows and doors.

The other day I contacted 101 with the details of some flytipping in the entrance to High Hazels Park. I provided details of the rubbish, the vehicle registration, the description of the man flytipping and the time it all happened. I was passing all this information on for a lady who was not happy with what she had seen but did not want to take it any further herself. A couple of hours later i took a call from Enviromental Health who asked me if the lady would be prepared to do a statement and stand up in court to give evidence. I told them she would not. At this point they thanked me for reporting it and told me the case would be closed. I asked if they would be taking this further and without a court witness they wont. They told me they were not allowed to trace the vehicle without a witness statement and the police are not interested in these cases. The DVLA wont give details of the vehicle owner so the flytipper doesnt even get a visit or a telling off. This happened in broad daylight, so if you want to flytip get on with it, unless someone is prepared to stand up in court you can do it any time and any place.

Government plans to sell off 300,000 allotments.
NPressureCS replied to Cavegirl's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
Follow this link and it has all the information and related pages to this topic. http://www.allotment.org.uk/garden-diary/1238/allotment-threat-act-now/ They finished the consultation process last week. Not sure if it is something to worry about or if there is a lot of scaremongering (before the local elections). For now if it is passed it just means as RobD1 points out they wont have to provide new allotments. -

Before everyone decides to join in a witch hunt get the facts! With the cctv evidence, the witness statements and the dropping of the charges there had to be a massive case for self defense. Wait for the real facts of the night to be released and then make your mind up, but dont jump to conclusions just because the papers report one side of the events! All that glitters is not gold!

Proposed Allotment Rent Increases in Sheffield
NPressureCS replied to RobD1's topic in Allotment & Gardening Group
Its true that water is the biggest expense on an allotment site but not to the degree that it impacts on such dramatic rent increases. Our highest weekly usage last year in the height of summer was £155, we estimate that this year on a 210 plot site with animals and a good summer we will use approximately £3000. Thats £14 per plot per year. If water saving initiatives are implemented I estimate the bill to be approx £2500
