  1. The original thread seems to have moved off topic somewhat! One of the reasons the road is narrow by the pedestrian entrance to the multi-storey is that that bit of road is actually a bridge (altho it doesn't look like it) and there are works being carried out. The wall opposite the pedestrian entrance was due to be removed/altered to allow the road to be widened but apparantly there are problems with this wall as it's structure affects the bridge you can't see!
  2. Can't fault 3 at all... Always helpful, had £20 of credit off them recently as a result of problems associated with a repair... Tariffs are good value compared to some other networks and coverage is spot on - even if you lose 3G coverage you switch to using O2's GSM network (although this will change to using the Orange network shortly) Overall 9/10. Previously I was with Vodafone (and worked for them once) and they would get 7/10 max.
  3. We're you with O2 Online? If so, your tariff can tell you whether they should have you as 12 or 18 months. 12 month tariff example £30 for 200 mins and 500 text - 18 month equivalent £30 for 300 mins and 750 texts. If you only got the 200/500 option for example, there's no way you could be held to an 18 month commitment. This of course does require you to be with O2 Online - I don't know the variations and details for O2 shops or O2 dealers. Plus having the email from Nov 05 stating 12 months, there's nothing they can do to hold you longer than allowed. Print off the email (it should have a tracking number) and POST it along with a covering letter to O2 HQ in Slough. I would be reluctant to cancel your DD and fight it that way. Assuming O2 are incorrect, non-payment until the matter is resolved (and O2 admit their mistake) could still cause adverse info on your credit rating etc. which although can be corrected is (I believe) a pain. in the a**e to actually get done.
  4. No probs with Orange as I'm aware, all running fine! Think your friend needs to call back and ask to speak to a supervisor or manager, or failing that seek advice at the Orange shop in town or Meadowhall.
  5. The lego dept was my favourite. The "old" Redgates used to have a (what seemed but probably wasn't) huge staircase near the main entrance which took you down to the Lego which was right at the bottom of the stairs. The stairs later made way for possibly an escalator when they installed the rocket lift. Sometime after it closed, my dad had a job there whilst it was being refurbished for Sunwin House and I went in with him - it was all emty and eerie, I remember thinking how big it was and how sad it wasn't Redgates anymore! Redgates WAS THE toy shop for a generation or 2 - Toys R Us cannot even come remotely close! PS: Hamleys was on The Moor where Mk One is. I blame Hamleys for the demise of Redgates (altho there probably is no link!)
  6. As long as you have your rail ticket, however or whenever it was purchased, you will get the lower rate. Apparently the station car park is changing hands, from being an NCP car park to QPark.
  7. Yorkshire Electricty Distribution's website doesn't have any service news so still none the wiser http://www.ce-electricuk.com/page/news/serviceupdates/index.cfm
  8. Same here, I was convinced the power would go off as my Tesco microwave tea was whizzing round. It didn't thankfully.
  9. Anyone got any info on the next series then?! What canwe expect!?
  10. Try http://www.28dayslater.co.uk for some ideas (I think that's the address). The site is full of urban exploration - a lot of it is UK wide but there are some sites and links to other sites, some of which are in Sheffield I think. Basically the members of the forum visit derelict and abandoned sites and take pics - sites inc residential, factories, office blocks, hospitals...
  11. Who wins might affect that last point. In their franchise applications each company will try to "score" points over their competitors - more stopping services at somewhere like Dronfield may be a point (for example) that First Group have raised as part of their bid, but something (again, for example) that National Express haven't included. In this example, should First (or any bidder) make this part of their bid, they would be expected to provide said service. (Altho I take your point - I'm not overly fussed who wins what!)
  12. Not Fletchers, further up Middlewood Rd towards Beeley Woods. I live near Middlewood tram stop and it's beyond that blowing towards Fletchers/Wadlsey Bridge
  13. It's from the general direction of where the old Winn Gardens tower block was, maybe a bit to the left! Dying down now, not so black. Don't know where it's from tho, maybe Beeley Woods way. Spoke to soon, thick black again. Good view from my upstairs window!
