  1. Hi there, Can anyone remember the Ponds Forge boxing event a few years ago where each fighter punched through a massive paper screen to make an entrance into the main arena,if so can anyone recall which boxers (either Sheffield guys or their other-town opponents) took part in the screen-punch entrances and does anyone have any photos of the event please? cheers
  2. When will Waitrose open a few of their convienience stores "little Waitrose" in Sheffield centre and in Barnsley.Their product range is out of this world, would be delighted if they opened in South Yorkshire and gave "simply food m&s " a run for their money.
  3. I would love to see Pitcher and Piano convert one of the lovely victorian former buildings into a bar/restaurant,their branch at notingham in a converted church is gorgeous.please email feedback@pitcherandpiano.com with suggestions for possible sites/large former/empty bank premises etc in sheffield please.
  4. The big annoyance I find is housing benefit--i have to live 3-4 days a week away in essex,to be a day carer-the flat is only one bed so at night i have to use b&b to sleep over when the night carer takes over 4 nights at £35 a night when you only get combined benefits of £170 a week swallows up 140 quid of it.I then have to survive on £30 a week to cover everything else-because you cannot claim B&B costs as housing benefit unless you "live in it permanently" awaiting social housing. It makes my blood boil when people go on about feeling badly done to when they can no longer bill back £400 a week for a flat on housing benefit, when i am surviving on paying effectively my b and b rent out of benefits i am supposed to live on for living costs not the rent, because there is no flexibility in the system that acknowledges you might have to temporarily live outside your own home address in a crisis.

  7. try jobcentre plus at the office near to city hall supertram stop--on the junction with rockingham street.
  8. the sad thing is looking at the building today, roof slates falling off or been broken off needs sorting definitely rain will get in and ruin the interior plasterwork on the lower levels.can the developers not pull their fingers out and get the place fixed and occupied.
  9. It would be good to see the upper floors become residential and the ground floor be high-end retail like designer clothes shop, but i'd happily settle for a wine bar/restaurant etc.
  10. ok-i did not see that.the interview on look north was very condensed and i didn't see calendar,if it went out on there.apologies for not seeing the bit you had.
  11. @kidley-- because while we all agree the boxer is guilty, and you refer to the "police officers remarks about his criminal behaviour". the point is they always refer to the behaviour of another person been criminal but never themselves, even when they act outside the law themselves. the only point i make is that when the police go blind in one eye, they really go blind in one eye!
  12. @kidley...but the police ALWAYS hype themselves up by saying "how SHOCKED they are at such an incident, how TERRIBLE everything is,how OBSCENE someon'es behaviour has been" (note the sarcasm there) but what about the shock of the public when some bent copper starts slapping a black lad about in a cell ,or in one case a custody officer who poured scalding water over a detainee that hit the headlines recently. The police poo-poo those kinds of acts by saying "Oh we can't comment, because its been "looked into"--Oh it was an accident that scalding water was thrown into someones face, the poor custody officer was working for us had st.vitus dance, and accidentally shook it at the defendant". Its called spinning some bullsh*t to the public to cover up for bent policing. Also what of the case like in London where Ian Tomlinson was beaten down by a cop andkilled,De Menezes gunned down on the tube" No charges,No-body at fault, two deaths but nobody to blame, and the police totally innocent. Really? Are they actually no better than a boxer losing his cool?
  13. @donkey7159 LOL-- i thought they were auditioning as members of the vicky pollard fan club..lol
  14. so how long do you think he SHOULD have got? did the judge get it right? was it too long a sentence? should he have got 99 years for the murder and 49.5 years for slapping another guy about first? join us,on question time, with me david dimbleby in sheffield. now another view from you,no,not you the woman with the blonde hair, four rows back,in the glasses,oh sorry your a man...whats your view?
