  1. Let's have another election, we're just starting to get good at them.
  2. I quite like it. It's a very imposing structure. Unique. I like Sheffield's 60s & 70s architecture, lots of good solid concrete & brick. Makes a change from seeing the sheds they build out of RSJs & cover with decorative facades these days. There is a walkway under it, but it's behind large locked gates, the path that was supposed to be on the other side to link it to London Road was never completed by the council. It's a shame that was never opened up, a nice walkway & subway would go some way to fixing the problem of cutting off London Road. It shades all the Moorfoot too, as well as blocking access, so think it killed off that bottom part of the moor as well as London Road. Even the public toilet block built into it has been closed for years now, most of the moorfoot area is in a poor state, there's very little reason to go there, just empty shops, dempseys & sharps. I hope there's some plan to regenerate that area a bit now the rest of the moor is almost complete. Hate it or not, it'd be a massive job to demolish such a big reinforced concrete structure. It seems to be a very solid structure & it'd be a waste of a unique huge building, so we should make the best of it. I know it's council offices now, but I don't think they use all of it. It standing there half empty doesn't really help anybody.
  3. How is using an empty car park that is free for an hour unethical?
  4. The car park isn't owned by staples & if it's never full then how is anybody losing anything? Anyway, I always park there thinking I'm going to shop at Staples, then when I get to the door I remember they don't sell anything I want, so I go to the market. The intention was there when I parked up. You can get 2hrs in the multi-story next door to the market for £1.50, if you shop in the market & take your car park token to the information desk in the market. I've never seen that car park full & it's much closer than any car park was to castle market. And almost every bus in Sheffield stops outside. Problems are, there's no gallery, it doesn't have a referee, there's no billy's frillies, it's all level.
  5. It was busy this morning. The meat & fish is better quality, fresher & cheaper than supermarkets. Wider variety too. The venison looked great on Barry's stall today. I miss Castle Market, but most of the old stalls are at the new market & it's less soul destroying than Tesco. It's open tomorrow too.
  6. New information for health professionals (in the USA) http://www.cancer.gov/about-cancer/treatment/cam/hp/cannabis-pdq
  7. Most people aren't going to hospitals just for the fun of it.
  8. Don't worry, they're much more likely to drink themselves to death if you look at the stats.
  9. They're supposed to take it off the grill, let it cool & then refrigerate it, then heat it up properly the next day, if any is still unsold after 2 days it should be binned. Ideally they'd use smaller kebabs & aim to sell it all in one day. They need to be more careful with chicken kebabs. Lamb is usually safer, fattier & no doubt it has loads of salt & preservatives in too when it's a doner kebab.
  10. If it was a bit less illegal then it'd be very easy to produce a consistent product, or several different consistent products to treat different problems.

  12. Are you sure it's not just you thinking your instructor was being condescending? You can't be expected to know everything, that's why you're learning to drive. It's clear from the road markings, it's not the only roundabout where you can turn right in the left lane, it's likely your instructor took you there so you'd make that mistake, or almost make it & then learn from it. I think you're reading too much into it, there's no shame in learning how to drive. I think you'd fail if it was your test, but it wasn't. I think it was on one of the possible test routes too. You should stay in the left lane unless told otherwise by your instructor, signs or the road markings. If they say take the third exit, or the exit for Handsworth or whatever then you need to look to see which lane you should be in approaching the roundabout.
  13. Somebody should tell the Daily Mail. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-36536/Apples-fight-heart-disease-cancer-strokes.html
  14. If only Castle Market was still around you'd be able to buy hot freshly baked fruitcakes without having to bother with all the nutters in the posh end of town.
  15. Good job it'll be banned soon then.
