  1. We've recently started a new podcast here in Sheffield for writers and readers. It's called 'Prompety Prompt'. Join Letty Butler & Stephen Mellor (aka Dave) for a brand new game show that shines the spotlight on new and existing writers, via the medium of chatting, creative prompts & live writing challenges. We have two different studio guests every two weeks, including novelists, poets, spoken word artists and scriptwriters. http://www.cornucopia-radio.co.uk/prompety-prompt/ Importantly we would love you to write (yes you! the person reading this) something new for us based on the prompts we suggest, so email us your work based on the prompts you hear and we'd love to read it out on the show!
  2. We're once again recording a new Bernie Clifton Podcast tomorrow (11th Oct) 10.30am with a live audience at the Showroom Cinema here in Sheffield. Our special guests are personal trainer Kellyanne Sharman & Bake-Off alumni Howard Middlebun https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-bernie-clifton-podcast-live-october-recording-tickets-74961613203 Why not come join us, have a fun Friday morning and be in the audience?
  3. Yes, I understood it was very popular too, but I guess there are always lots of odd business decisions at the beeb. Still, everybody involved wanted to keep it going (and so did the community that had built up around it) so my own group decided to help continue making the show.
  4. Following on from Bernie Cliftons radio show (Live-ish) which he was previously creating for BBC Radio Sheffield (and which they no longer wanted to continue with), we've taken over the production of the show at Cornucopia Radio and we're now releasing it as a monthly podcast, with the first episode out today! This months show is recorded at the Showroom Cinema here in Sheffield, and our special guests are Milly Johnson & Jack Land Noble. Milly is an international novelist, poet, after-dinner speaker, professional joke writer, script-writer, columnist, cruise correspondent, short-story writer and a previous winner of Come Dine With Me. Jack is a prolific British actor, playwright, producer, director, musician, songwriter and vocal entertainer. We also play plenty of games and quizzes (with the answer to most questions being 'Harold Wilson', lol) and have lots of fun with our live audience. Tell us what you think of the new show; if you like it come join us and be in the audience for another live recording of the show next month (dates for the next show will be released shortly) http://www.cornucopia-radio.co.uk/bernieclifton
  5. Thought you'd like to hear a short action-horror story we've turned into a small audiobook (with added music and sound effects). I really like the atmosphere we've created with this one, and I hope the soundscape captures the imagination as much as the actual story does. cornucopia-radio.co.uk/comicbook-boy Comics are a way of life for so many people, but do we truly understand their power? More importantly; if that power was ever unleashed, would it be used for good or evil? In this short audiobook, we’re asking the question. What would we create? A superhero, or perhaps… a monster? Written by our colleague Arkenmint (also based in Sheffield like us) this story is also available in text form on his website By the way, if anybody here has a story/script that they feel might work on our radiostream/podcast. Then get in touch.
  6. The directory is still going strong (with over 40 Sheffield podcasters) We also meet up once a month at DINA-Venue; to discuss the podcasts we're making and like listening to. The night is open to podcasters, people who want to start podcasting, or people who just like to listen! Our next meet-up is tomorrow (28th March) Find out more info via Facebook or Meetup
  7. A Little Bit Racey is an award nominated improv comedy panel show from ‘Cornucopia Radio’ (the Sheffield based; spokenword internet radio station), in which four panellists race against a time limit of just three minutes to create a funny story about reaching a destination using randomly assigned companions, objects and modes of transport. The fourth series begins broadcasting on ‘Cornucopia Radio’ in February, but this year they've got something a little extra planned, a live extravaganza! They'll be recording and filming an additional live version of the show on the 8th of February at 8pm at DINA Venue, Sheffield (doors 7.30pm) Hosted by James Cottle, with panelists Tom Harrison, Chella Quint, Pip Mason and David Alnwick With extra performances from, Joe Thompson, Charlie Gascoyne, The Shrimps, Faffing About and The Antics. https://www.facebook.com/events/634068510128371/ And best of all, it’s free! So come down, have some fun, have a drink, have a laugh & watch four comedians display their lack of geographical knowledge all in the name of radio comedy!! Listen to previous editions of the show on the website: http://www.cornucopia-radio.co.uk/a-little-bit-racey/
  8. From a local viewpoint, have a listen to Talk Sheffield from Ahmed Jama, Taha Saleh and Yahja Hassan. Demonstrates what you can do when you have a passion to tell hidden stories about the city you live in. Their recent podcast is all about homelessness in Sheffield. Not as locally focused, but still made in Sheffield, I've been listening to Hack Circus by Leila Johnson. It's an interview show about the art and craft of creativity. Her latest interview with 'Mary Turner Thomson'; who was recently on stage with Jon Ronson at the Crucible as part of his 'Psychopath Night' tour, is excellent. That's the great thing about podcasting. If you dig enough, you'll find content you love, no matter what you're into to.
  9. The new website I've been working on www.sheffieldpodcasts.co.uk is now live. It's a place to discover the growing amount of podcasts and podcasters creating content in the city of Sheffield. Up until now, it was hard to know what was out there and what our city was up to. Hopefully this website can make it a lot easier to discover all the local podcasts you can subscribe to. It’s main goal is to easily display all the podcasts on the front page and to offer subscription links and access to all social networks for each individual show. It's also where you can find information about our monthly meetup group; designed to help new and existing podcasters, network and share ideas. So if you're interested in podcasting, please tell others about the website and what they can discover in the city of Sheffield!
  10. Hi everybody, thought you might like to listen to our latest audio-drama called 'Stone'. It's written by local writer Stephen Walker, author of cult novels ‘Danny Yates Must Die’ and ‘Mr Landen Has No Brain’. The story is about Alicia Harker, the Twelfth Daughter of Destiny who took the mettle of a dead god and forged it into a bronze hand. That hand would bestow good fortune on anyone who owned it. She then discarded it by a roadside, where it might be found and passed from person to person, bringing good fortune to those who’d done nothing to deserve it. And once every hundred years, she sets out on an adventure to discover it and see what its latest beneficiary’s made of a luck so randomly granted. Well, at least that was the plan… You can listen here: http://www.cornucopia-radio.co.uk/stone/
  11. We're already halfway through "Series 3" don't you know? And today we've just uploaded a new episode and it looks like being a dark day for the staff at Morrisons! Someone has taken a plastic bag without paying 5p for it! This injustice will not stand, but luckily the government has put tracking devices on all the bags in order to catch these devious bandits. So our comedy improv teams are heading to ‘La Paz’ in Bolivia to retrieve the requisite payment. And these days, you can both listen to the itunes podcast and view us on youtube. Witness the glorious technology at http://www.cornucopia-radio.co.uk/a-little-bit-racey Presented by James Cottle. With Tom Harrison, Hugh Clark, David Ruddock and Tamar Broadbent
  12. So, back in 2013/14 we created the epic 6-part fantasy comedy serial “The Legend of Nic and Joe” starring ‘Nic Bowden’ and ‘Joe Lister-Streep’, and although it might have looked like the tale was over, we promised there was still one more story to tell; but it would only be told at Christmas. You see, Nic and Joe are dead, and Merlin the storyteller must try to rescue their legend from the mists of time and soon, they come face to face with a new friend - in the vague snow-based shape of Dave Benson Phillips. Written and performed by Nic Bowden & Joe Lister Streep. The show also stars Simon Atherton, Emma Smyth, Matt Risby and Jo Beadle. It also features special guest stars; Jessica-Jane Stafford (The Real Hustle, I'm a Celebrity Get Me Outta Here) and 90's children's presenter Dave Benson Phillips (CBBC, Get Your Own Back) Christmas won’t be Christmas unless you listen to what we’ve created as our gift to you. Hope you enjoy! http://www.cornucopia-radio.co.uk/nicandjoe Also, if you want to know what it was like in the studio to make this; then try this behind the scenes link:
  13. Hey, just a heads up everybody. We've just uploaded our Christmas special today, which was recorded at the lovely 'Theatre Delicatessen'. In the show, we find it's Christmas Eve and all around, everyone is safe and sound. But what’s this? Has Father Christmas lost his mind? A present has been left behind! How did he even begin. To forget about poor Tiny Tim? This boy who lives in Brussels. Is surely deserving of his action man with muscles. Our comedy improv teams grab the doll and off they go. To catch up with Santa, he’s over in Togo (hint: it's in Africa) Listen now at: http://www.cornucopia-radio.co.uk/a-little-bit-racey
  14. Like all relationships, it was based on a commonality; a relational glue that binds two people together. For Beth and Stew, it was their daughter ‘Holly’ that was the glue that held the relationship together. But what happens to that relationship when the glue disappears? Did they ever really know each other? Can they survive a personal tragedy such as this? 'Unglued' is our brand new audio-drama written by our award-winning playwright Paul Kenny; about the death of a couple's daughter and how they cope with the loss. With amazing dramatic performances by Peter Radford & Canan Cahit. You fine people on this forum can download it right now from our website (or subscribe to our itunes podcast) Also let us know what you fellow writers think about the story! http://www.cornucopia-radio.co.uk/unglued CAST: Peter Radford as Stew Canan Cahit as Beth & Peter Beeston as Sergent Davies Credits: Written by Paul Kenny | Edited and Directed by Peter Beeston Music: ‘Eternity’ by Rocavaco and ‘Inside Out’ by Audio Technica This work is released under a Attribution-NonCommercial 3.0 Unported license
  15. I thought everybody in Sheffield would like to know we're currently onto the second series of our improv comedy podcast which we call "A Little Bit Racey" www.cornucopia-radio.co.uk/a-little-bit-racey The show features four panelists racing against a time limit of just three minutes to reach a destination. They begin from different starting points and use an assortment of companions, objects and modes of transport, but they must keep everything together with them as they travel. They must also overcome their opponent, provided by another panelist, who will fire off obstacles to try and stop them. Featuring performers from local Sheffield improv groups such as "The Antics", "The Shrimps" and "Kaboodle Improv", this is a gameshow you simply couldn't make up! Who are these 'Cornucopia Radio' people then? An award winning group of writers & creative performers in Sheffield & across South Yorkshire who make radio drama & comedy; which is then broadcast on radio stations across the world, as well as podcasted across every corner of the internet.
