  1. I've never yet seen him do a bad show, always great! He's gotta lotta love for sheffield as well!!
  2. Think were already a bit packed up front (can't work out if thats a single entendre or not, lol) But I think there are still a few tickets on sale elsewhere in the venue. The new album is great as well. The Doc Dre cover treads a wonderfully fine line between genius and pure misogyny.
  3. Is anybody else off to the Ben Folds gig on Thursday? Generally Iā€™d prefer a better venue; the City Hall is a great place, but somewhere not really suited to gigs (could have been at much better venues across Sheffield). Still got some great front row seats, got my flashing L.E.D shirt and should be a great evening.
  4. Weā€™ve been having a fun time at the book group meets, and I suspect that numbers will start getting bigger once the better weather starts arriving (every day weā€™ve chosen has been fairly poor on the weather front). We were all a bit late on Thursday (7:50 ish), so sorryif anybody was there early and left before we all turned up. I think we named a few books for next time but I canā€™t quite recall the name at the mo.
  5. Iā€™d be interested in coming along to an evening like this. I used to be part of the last group of forumers, who would plan board game evenings. We havenā€™t done it for a year or two and itā€™s a much missed relaxed evening. Canā€™t be there this Sunday, as Iā€™m at another meet but certainly give me a shout if it goes well and you have another one. Just want to check one thing. If itā€™s this Mattel surely you have an advantageā€¦.
  6. There seems to be quite a few opportunities to meet new people at the moment. For exampleā€¦ We have Rubyā€™s Birthday Meet on the 14th On, the same day these bunch of peeps seem to be interested in starting a board games evening. Iā€™m currently trying to help and get a reading group of the ground, feel free to drop along even if you havenā€™t read the books. This group Here and Here, seem to want new people. Iā€™ve just asked if other people who want to get to know other people, are interested in Theatre / Cultural meet-ups here. Although Iā€™ve never been, the walking are a cool bunch of peeps. Taking nice walks and then relaxing in a cake and tea shop? Nice. I think there are massive numbers of people on the forum who would like to make more friends (nobodies alone in that respect), and clearly there is a massive desire. Sometimes in can just be about making that first step and going out on the posted meets (most people are there for the first time) Anyway, Iā€™d be interested in meeting any new people, in any context. Drop me a line.
  7. Just a quick update then........ Firstly, the crisis over Santa's Christmas delivery has been sorted. Rudolf was due to be hired out to ā€˜British Airwaysā€™ to help solve the fog problems over Heathrow (of course leaving Nick one reindeer short) But thankfully the weather is looking much better, so the sleigh team is now back to full strength. Secondly this article form the ā€˜This Observerā€ (an actual piece from a few years ago) proves that if you go back to my original post, youā€™ll see Iā€™m not making up untrue and unkind rumors about Rolf Harris. And finally a big fat ā€œMerry Christmasā€ to you all........
  8. Clearly, there is a fault in Santaā€™s ā€˜Naughtyā€™ present procedure when it comes to ill-behaved steam trains such as Henry. It is correct to assume Coal would be no good in this case. Iā€™ve also decided that should I ever end up on ā€œWho wants to be a Millionaireā€ and a end up with a ā€œThomas the Tank Engineā€ question, scoop will certainly be my phone a friend. Never before have I seen such a scholar on the subject. Iā€™ll remind you all that with only a week to go, you still have time to get your name checked. Always good to have a little prior knowledge (might help you decide if leaving out a mince pie and milk would be a good idea after all). For example..... Name- Mr Scoop Verdict: Naughty Thereā€™s no easy way to say this. But is has been a particularly naughty year for Mr Scoop. He continues to steal enegon cubes, and at the slightest sign of any problem, is still transforming into a hand gun and firing himself at the oncoming autobots. Despite his therapist Mr Stevens, repeatedly suggested perhaps sitting down and talking to Optimus Prime about his issues would be a much more helpful approach. Santa can only look upon in dismay at his current plan to blow up a small damn, drowning all the inhabits of the small little local town. Suggested Present: A Gobot .....Actually I take it back. It was very easy to say that. Name- Scoop Jnr Verdict: Nice Scoop Jnr has had a very good year. His school project which was simply to ā€œwrite you did at the weekendā€, quickly changed in shape and tone into a modern retelling of ā€œThe Iliadā€ by Homer. Focusing on our modern day fractured relationships, and a subtle satirical swipe at the Florentine politics of the early 16th century. It was quickly published by Harper Collins and went onto win the Booker prize, and was latter turned into a multiple oscar winning film. His teacher also gave it a gold star and drew a little happy smiley face near the end. Suggested Present: Santa has been talking with the parents and it has been agreed that a full size short-haul steam engine will be given as a present (The most likely one being this one, 4-6-0 Grange class steam locomotive). Santa has left it to be wrapped by the parents themselves (coincedently they will need around 6.6 tons of wrapping paper) P.S For comedy value please read the above, in a Ringo Star voice...
  9. Name- Em2007 Verdict: Naughty This year we find em2007 is still constantly lying to everybody she knows. What makes it worse, is that theā€™re not even believable lies. Despite how much she insists, she clearly wasnā€™t that Chinese guy with the shopping bags standing in front of the tank in Tiananmen Square. ā€œLove, Love Me Doā€ was a number 1 hit for The Beatles, not em2007 and how many times do we have to tell you, the cartoon show ā€œThe Powder Puff Girlsā€ is not based on your life. You simply canā€™t claim to have invented Belgium. That sign blew over because of the wind, not because you were using ā€œthe forceā€ no matter how much you stamp your feet and complain. Suggested Present: A seat in the houses of parliament...
  10. The thing is, of course I plan to include you on this list, but when I turn to page 185,00178; section 8, where youā€™re name should be. We find...... Name-Lestat Verdict: [-Classified-] Reason: [This N/N text has been removed by the CIA] [subject is under high investigation] Suggested Present: [This present is currently been examined by our scientists] Really, I just work here. I donā€™t want to dig any further than this. People whoā€™ve meet me on the meets will tell you, how insanely over-educated and bored this writer can be when he gets stuck behind a keyboard, when he should be working elsewhere
  11. Santa has me working double shifts at the moment, I warned him installing Vista at this time of year, so close to his deliver deadline, would mess up his database. But Iā€™ve just got a few spare minutes to check..... Name- Hockeybear Verdict: Nice This year hockeybear has been trying to act as peacemaker and middleman in the 20 year ā€œFonty Warā€. Trying to bring peace to an area of the middle eastern Internet which has claimed so many lives. He spent many weeks talking with Helvetica, trying to help them find some kind of common ground with their hated enemy Times New Roman. Trying to persuade them that Times New Roman, were nothing to be feared or hated, and that there elegant lettering was in no way a slur against Helvetica's more harsh corners. Likewise he knew if he could persuade Courier to work together with Underlined Arial, that would give him much more leverage in drafting a non-italic treaty with the already dangerous splinter group Helvetica Condensed Bold Italic. Windings was always going to be a troublesome font to try and bring to the peace table, and many say hockeybear made a smart move by refusing to talk to them; leaving them in the political cold and cutting of there support. The violence which broke out in a Microsoft document last week between a few rouge elements of the Copperplate Light font, was a slight setback, but the prospects still look good, and hockeybear should still be rewarded by Santa. Suggested Present: A Double Spaced Rich Text Document, yet to be Spellchecked
  12. I think it was proved some time ago (a referendum or something along that line), that you can never have too much cowbell But let us not forget why we're really here.... Name-sTaGeWaLkEr Verdict: Naughty Santa says it has been yet another year of hunting the Road Runner for sTaGeWaLkEr . This has resulted in numerous trips to the hospital, as a boulder tends to land on top of him on average around six times a week. sTaGeWaLkEr (Latin Name: Evereadii Eatibus) has been chasing the roadrunner (Latin name: Velocitus Incalculus ) around Sheffield for so many years he has almost lost count. sTaGeWaLkEr often comes up with what seem like great ideas at the time, but are often woefully short-sighted when it comes a basic understanding of gravity. Some of his recent attempts have been to paint a tunnel on the side of cliff, only to have the roadrunner run straight through, sadly when sTaGeWaLkEr tried he went smack into the rock. A recent boulder catapult device, rocketpowered jetpack and dynamite covered bird seed have all badly backfired (often resulting in being crushed or having his face blown off many many times). sTaGeWaLkEr is also always buying equipment from ā€œJeff Acmes DIY Storeā€ which is just off London road. There have been many people who have remarked how shoddy this equipment is, but for some reason stagewalker persists. His recent purchase of a ā€˜Acme Giant Rubber Bandā€™, and ā€˜Acme Jet-propelled Roller Skatesā€™ have recently been highlighted on the TV show ā€œWatchdogā€ as faulty products, so we all fear the worst. Suggested Present: A tiny little umbrella he can hold above his head, just before the expected boulder crushes him.
  13. Iā€™ve had the press on my back the last day or so. Apparently after reading this thread, a lot of the tabloid editors want a copy of Santaā€™s full ā€œN/Nā€ list to publish in their newspapers. Iā€™ve given a firm and unequivocal no each time; I believe the good, honest, nice people of the internet deserve first look. I also guess the Sheffield Forum deserves a quick peek aswellā€¦.. Which leads me toā€¦ā€¦ā€¦.. Name-Scoop Verdict: Naughty Reason: Scoop's watercolour artwork has remained pretty amateurish this year. Despite reading many books and attending a local college course. Her use of form and composition is weak and unfocused. Any kind of symbolism in her picture ā€œMan on Unicycle in a Pond Surrounded by Fearā€ is lost on me. I also have to admit it is rather irritating that she has to play the theme music to ā€œVision On" whenever anybody views her artwork. When asked what her favourite style of painting is, replying with ā€œKittens in a Basketā€™ismā€ is generally looked down upon by most art scholars. However her use of DJ2ā€™s new colours smertly and griorg in her art is to be commended. Suggested present:A paint-by-numbers picture featuring a lump of coal.
