  1. Sorry but I have no recollection of a Pete Rhodes as a PO Messenger about that time. I was a meesenger from !960 to 62.
  2. As a follow up to my previous notes regarding messengers. We had a meeting of PO veterans at the Bowshaw pub on the 10th December and we were joined by 2 ex messengers Alan Keen and ARO Jackson. It was great to see them after so many years. The lads have asked me to put out an appeal for any other ex meesengers who served as telegram boys between 1956 and 1964. In a previous message I listed all the guys I could remember but since then some more have been mentioned. Tony Jenkinson, PJ Cowlishaw (plum), Ossy Binnington? Please get in touch if any of you are out there still?
  3. Spoke to our Bryan and it would be great to see you 2 on the 10th December at 12.30pm at the Bowshaw. The xmas lunch is about £10. See you there. Rob
  4. Alan. The usual guys who attend are Ian Barker, my brother Bryan, Doug Mitchell, Dickie Downs, Peter Walmsley, Walt Howard, Alistair Mowat and a few others. Hope you can make it , will be good to talk over old times and particularly good to see Aro! Cheers
  5. Alan, The Xmas lunch for the PO vets will be on the 10th December at 12.30pm at the Bowshaw Pub which lies at the junction of the A61 Dronfield By Pass and the road down to the Coach and Horses in Dronfield. If you are interested in attending please let me know and I will add your name to the list? Cheers
  6. Yes I am Bryans brother and will pass your wishes to Ian Barker at the Xmas lunch with the PO vets on the 10th December.
  7. Hi Alan, I remember seeing you on that occasion! I think it was at my daughter Victoria's house at Whiteways Road. Can't think when it was but I guess it must be at least 10 years ago? Some of the PO vets meet monthly every third tuesday at lunchtime at the Bowshaw Inn Dronfield. One of the attendees is an ex messenger with us Ian Barker. Good to hear from you....Rob
  8. What number did you live at Olivet Road? Are you a similar age to me?
  9. I was born in Olivet Road in 1943 and also went to both Woodseats Schools. The name Billam is known to me and my family. We lived at 45 Olivet the last house before the shop. We played in the "field" which was in between Olivet and Helmton and also played in the Woods which was also the path through to the top entrance of Graves Park at the top of Cobnar road! The other people i remember living in Olivet were the Pattersons, Lawsons, Beddalls, Roberts, Wilde, Hobson, Bradshaw,Lawsons, Twiby,

  11. Hi Bob, The Old Boys Association meet at Noon on the 2nd Wednesday in each month at the Leopold Hotel which of course was built on the original Central Technical School site. The Secretary of the OB can be contacted on 07884421081. I attended the CTS from 1956 to 59.
  12. Does anybody remember the Civic Restaurant at the bottom of West Street in the mid/late 50's. I think it was replaced by the Youth Employment offices at a later date.
