  1. She is so wonderful in Fawlty Towers. The occasional time you just catch her twitching slightly as she struggles to keep a straight face makes it all the more wonderful. Bless.
  2. Hello. I am in need of a baby sitter for this Saturday evening (28th Nov). Can anyone recommend one? Our kids are 11 and 12 and absolutely delightful (if I may say so myself). Please PM me if you can help. ---------- Post added 28-11-2015 at 13:30 ---------- All sorted now thanks
  3. The fighting skeletons from Jason and the Argonauts!! Amazing and incredible. The stuff of proper childhood wonderment. So much more magical than modern CGI. Thank you Ray.
  4. Agree. I wouldn't say I hated it exactly but I have never felt so disengaged from a main character, despite the fact that the book seemed very well written.
  5. Back in the day: Ava Gardner Grace Kelly Marlon Brando Julie Christie Montgomery Clift Catherine Deneuve Romy Schneider Dirk Bogarde Sir Stanley Baker Diana Rigg Oliver Reed (before he started p***ing it all up the wall) Roger Moore (in his black and white TV days) Today Audrey Tautou Javier Bardem Penelope Cruz Cillian Murphy Zachary Quinto
  6. She is truly unique. I can still remember seeing her on TotP singing Wuthering Heights when I was a kid and thinking how brilliant she was. The Hounds of Love is still one of my favourite albums of all time and Lionheart should be the English national anthem.
  7. Marshall Hain - Dancing in the City White Town - Your Woman Cornershop - Brimful of Asha (not sure they were a 1HW though)
  8. I loved living on Wadsley Lane but moved away for family reasons about six years ago. If I had the time I'd go back for a mooch around. I especially enjoyed an outing for a half at the Barracks and the H'boro Hotel. Sorry to hear Mann's had closed though - I am assuming it has been closed a while. That was a big draw.
  9. From what I recall the McSweenie's veggie haggis is quite tasty. This thread has inspired me to pop out and buy one.
  10. I've bought it in Waitrose on Ecclesall Road before
  11. Straight people have not had to fight for the freedom to be straight. We are still seen by many straights as somehow less than them purely and simply because we are queer. Some queers are still getting seven shades kicked out of them in the street on a Saturday night. Calling someone gay in school is a sure fire way of making some poor kid's life a misery. Being queer is punishable by death in many countries on earth. So that just might have something to do with the 'narcisism' some find so offensive.
  12. I don't think the slogan is particularly helpful. If someone has a problem with gay men and lesbians they aren't going to see the side of the tram and think 'Oh yeah. Silly me. Queers are alright really'. People only start to change their viewpoints if their minds are already open. Something like this will only make them feel got at.
