Did you live on the Manor Estate in the 1930s - 50s?
mikeG replied to Albert T Smith's topic in Sheffield History & Expats
I knew a Carol Inglis who lived on Fitzhubert way back in 1960. -
I passed in 1954, as did all other 51 pupils in J4S at Lydgate. We had a good teacher - Mr Savile.

A Comic's Journey by John Martin. Saw him on-stage recently. Great show. Also very interesting to talk to.

I'm with Anna B on this one. Well said.

The Mistake by K.L. Slater.

Gabby Logan's autobiography, 'The First Half'.

Killing Kate by Alex Lake. Another of his books not easy to put down.

Gloria Davis - about 1965 - I think.

Anybody On Here Who Worked In Rolling Mills In The 70s

My Dad, Eric George worked at Shepcote Lane Rolling Mills as Hot and Cold Rolling Mill Manager 1947-1972. Geoff Edwards was his boss. I worked there as a computer programmer 1971-2. My boss was Ron Stevens. -
I agree. Stephen and Sally were great but most of the rest have been OTT.

Starting with 'Twopence to Cross the Mersey', Helen wrote 4 books about her struggle to survive in Liverpool in the 1930/40's. The other 3 books are 'Liverpool Miss', ' By the Waters of Liverpool', and 'Lime Street at Two'. I found all four books fascinating to read.

Do you remember Rowlinson Technical in the 60's
mikeG replied to artisan's topic in Sheffield History & Expats
Friend of mine, Brian Hill went there a few years earlier, 1954-1960. -
I'm halfway through your book Jack Very enjoyable read. I used to work in Barclays Bank on Middlewood Road 1960-62 - just round the corner from where you were living. We both went to King Edwards and knew HTRT who taught Maths if I remember correctly.
