Fancy a Gig? Tune Inn @ The Royal Standard!
InTheDark replied to Griffly's topic in Sheffield Musicians
What about a private party/gig Sat 10th November? We're looking to play somewhere for a bday do. We want to bring along a DJ playing old funk stuff.. James Brown, The Meters etc and then have a bit of a jam night really where a bunch of people can get up and play a few tracks. We've got the gear minus the PA and that's where you'd be a big help. I only live up the road from you off Shrewsbury Rd. Oh and we'd wanna put on a few sarnies.. Let us know whether this'd be cool there. -

Hi Fellas, I'm 37 and looking for a band... have you got any songs online on myspace or similar? I'm curious to what you'd want. I've been playing 20 yrs+ and I'm thinking of getting back into playing. I've lots of recording and gigging experience etc, transport and a decent Gretsch,Paiste setup. I'm into lots of types of music but my main drumming influences are taken from Zeppelin and all the rock stuff to James Brown, Bernard Purdie and the 70s funk stuff to just about allsorts of things. Cheers for reading.

What I meant was I'd never seen a bunch of lads in the 80s riding along like that dressed as horrendously as they were. The characters for me were all about how they looked and nothing else. The lass who was sort of jilted at the wedding showed the most emotion and the young kid had a bit of a story going for him but the rest were boring/dull. I'm not familiar with the directors' work or what he's trying to do. It's still on the Sky hard drive so I'll give it another look later. I suppose I'm kind of comparing it with films like "Mischievous Night". That is a funny Northern film with a lot of emotion and good acting.

Hello All, I heard all the hype about this program and sat down to watch it. I've not seen the original film or even know what its about. Last night I watched the first 25 minutes and switched off. Why? The characters had no soul and nothing going from them. It was like watching a bunch of freaks from big brother with little acting skills and putting them in the shallowest of storylines. All dressed up with no-where to go. The young kid who got smacked was the most interesting part because of his needs to get a job. The wedding was just naff. Also the bunch of lads on the bikes riding around with tracksuits on. I'm 36 and I never once saw a bunch of naff looking tracksuit boys like that driving around. Maybe I'm wrong. What am I missing? Sorry if this is upsetting any fans but I'm stumped. Is it supposed to be a comedy or some serious Northern based drama?

Anyone know why Que Tal? shut at the top of West Street and if the owners have relocated elsewhere? Thanks

Police Helicopter ( No Lights )
InTheDark replied to denise2436's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
I was walking across the field next to the Hawk & Dove, Waterthorpe and saw the helicoptor. It was 100% the police helicopter and it was running with Zero lights on. I too thought it was very strange. It was observing an area between Emmanuel School and Crystal Peaks. I thought this was illegal as passenger/private flights must have nav lights on. I've never seen this before and it was quite eery watching it. I don't know if the police helicopter has something similar to military status etc as an option not to have lights on?? As for the person stating that this was a radio controlled helicopter - it was 100000% the police helicopter. Same shape - same sound - same routine of flying round in figure eights. This was around 10pm and it was fully dark and overcast. Strange -
Unique physically. Not mentally.
