Gettin dead peeps off the M1
  1. Mine used to do some pretty strange things after my nephew decided to treat it with a can of black spray paint whilst I was at work one day...everytime I pressed the shift key it would pulse and do nothing and all the keys were in some dodgy order although he did manage to put them all back in the right place...EG: I'd press Q and get a space...this wasn't down to the regional setting neither before anyone suggests that...
  2. Another option is to use FIREFOX which instead of cancelling the download like IE does it will save your progress so as you can continue when you re-connect.. I believe anyway, I haven't dld anything recently (In the last year or so) and FF has changed loads since then...
  3. My apologies Patsy...I didn't mean to come across all harsh love, but I still don't understand what you mean by the question...what are you running when you are being asked this...do you mean the box that asks if you want to connect? if so, I think you're having the same probs I used to have on DU (Dial up)...does the box keep appearing all the time? if so just ignore it, doesn't really matter what you click cos if your lines not connected you wont be able to connect and therefore wont incure any charges... Don't feel bad about askin, that's what the forum is here for..you've mad me feel really bad now and I shall go and punish myself...brb PS: If you are trying to access any page on the net then you do have to establish a connection. The only pages you will be able to access are ones you have saved to access off-line but you wont be able to refresh them or do anything with them, just makes them read-only so that you can read a large page without incurring charges xxx
  4. what ya mean.....what ya tryin to do....if your tryin to connect there's not much point if ya lines not connected.
  5. There are (Correct me if i'm wrong) 4 types of USB lead, one is pretty useless really as it just acts as an extension, then you get the usual type that you plug into a printer which is pretty fat @ the device end and flat at the pc end, there's the small one that goes into phones and small devices such as digi cams and then there's the one that's identical on both ends... Hope this helps but yeah, check your box cos you shoulda got one supplied with it.
  6. It does work but if he has the means to track it then I assume he would have the means also to break through that...when you call 999 with a withheld number they can still see what the number is. Just a thought to bear in mind
  7. Read above...that's what stickykeys are and he's/she's already said that's not the case...sounds like your keyboards got the same thing my pc has...past it's use by date...get a new'n
  8. Stuff that, as you can probably imagine i'm somewhat of a tightarse...think i'll go browse the FOR SALE section... Won't kickin it help, what about throwin it at the wall...used to work with my motorola lol
  9. Sorry, my bad...there is actually something happening because you can hearwhirling from the psu and the hdd's...so that rules out the fuses, I have tried to eject the cd-rw & the dvd-r but not able to and the monitor is fine as when I unplug the connection to the pc I get the no signal display. If it helps (I dunno) the spex of my pc are (Ancient...lol):- MOBO: ? CPU: P2 400Mhz RAM: 256mb HDD's: 3gig & Maxtor 6gig Secondary drives: 1 x DVD-R / 1 x CD-RW Anything else I can help ya with let me know... Oh, & the mouse is corded as is the keyboard.
  10. Hi all, as you may know i'm a bit thick when it comes to pc's, have been learning for near 2 yrs now and still learning...lol Anyway, I got home this morning, tried to boot my pc and nothing, no lights on the keyboard, the mouse lights up temporarily (Well it flashes on and then off) and there is no power to the monitor, oh and if it helps there is no beep indicating that BIOS has done it's bit so basically it's dead....is there anything I can do apart from scrap it...? PS: I dunno if it helps but I don't have a fan on the CPU (PII, 400Mhz) but haven't had for some time now...and it's not caused me any probs... Thanks in advance...
  11. Don't understand why you can't contact your network provider...if it's dodgy they'll blacklist it no matter what method you use to obtain your puk and there's no way you'll ever unlock it...besides, i'm sure someone will correct me, the mods don't take kindly to dodgy dealings on SF so this thread may vanish unless you explain why not.
  12. Loxley fish farm has a pretty large site that you can stroll around...head out towards bradfield (From sheffield) and carry on up Loxley road, when you see a bus stop on your right take that left....just keep going down until ya can't go any further, there is a smallish abandoned steel (I think) yard.
  13. Cheers steve, no good for me at the mo though cos I can't download the files as I don't have internet access @ home and no cd writer at work...doh. I do have the video camera already though, i was just a bit puzzled by all that...did they start making them without the camera or summit...?
  14. It's a good point though...I think i'll request this thread is closed, i'm in enough trouble as it is...
