  1. I remember Joe Meadows on the Committee...he knew MY dad, Les Gillott, who used to play snooker for the club!
  2. Woodhouse County Juniors - Balmoral (yellow) Conway (blue) Windsor (green) ...can't remember the other castle (red)! One of my senior schools (either Beaver Hill or Newfield Girls) had Redmires, Rivelyn, Derwent and Strines.
  3. A year or so after Hobson's Choice (perhaps 1969) was Listen to the Wind. Here are some photos: http://familyhistorygillott.com/photos/thumbnails.php?album=12
  4. I remember Hobson's Choice - I THINK Christine Owen was in it - the model who went on to appear in Sale of the Century!
  5. Oh! Norton Aeredrome is still standing is it--after I used to practice my driving on it in 1971 as an L Driver!! See, I was a good driver after all!!
  6. Hi Mikey Newfield went comprehensive in my last year.Yes I remember Chinney Wilson thundering ‘YOU, BOY’ down the corridor at some poor little waif who’d let his hair grow onto his collar. He was a former sargent major wasn’t he? He was deputy head, Mr Thorold was head I think. Were Mrs Fletcher (Flea-bag) the maths teacher, Mr Phillips (physics), Mr Hedley (PE) Mr Fisher (biology) there when you were there? My family, the Gillotts, lived on Carter road, behind the wagon & Horses Some of my schoolfriends lived on the same roads as you ; Susan & Paul Eddison on Richards Rd and Trevor Sugden on Spencer Rd. PS (haven't sussed how to send private mail yet!!)
  7. Hi Banksia Can’t remember Adams. I left Newfield Girls in 1969ish Certainly remember Heeley Picture Palace and I think I can visualize where you lived, I think the Spinks (Yvonne) lived at the top of that road. My family (the Gillotts) lived on Carter Road behind the Waggon & Horses. I have done quite a bit of family history tracing and have accrued a few photos of old Heeley if you’re interested.
  8. I went to Anns Road 1959 Woodhouse County 1962ish Beaver Hill 1966ish and Newfield Girls School between 1967 and 1970. Remember Mrs Fletcher the dreaded maths teacher!!! She used to finish class head bowed in prayer "God be in my head...." whilst the class were silently flicking ink sodded bits of paper at each other!! (in the days when ink wells were used)
  9. What a delight to stumble across this forum whilst surfing the net! Though I don’t live in Sheffield now, I was born and bred in Heeley. I suppose it’s changed a great deal since the 50’s and 60’s. Is the old Heeley Picture Palace still there? Ann’s Road School? or the Waggon & Horses? Does Carter Road still exist, with the two-up-two-down terraced houses, where I used to live? Does anyone remember or know of any Gillotts who lived in Heeley? Researching my family history, it seems that the Gillotts have been established in Heeley since the 17th century. I’d be delighted with any snippets of information that anyone has!
  10. Hi there! I attended Anns Road School Heeley in 1959. From there to Newfield Girls. My family born & bred in Heeley. Have a good trip down memory lane!
