  1. Taylor Taylor Hairdressers on Glossop Road give Alcohol out. Try ringing them and finding out.
  2. Try looking on rightmove I have attached 3 detached properties the first one is near Rother Valley Country Park, Crystal Peaks Shopping centre and the tram which is frequent to town. Also near to Derbyshire for walking. The second one is near to Meersbrook park and also Graves Park and either a walk into town or bus. The last one is on Granville Road which is practically next to Norfolk Park Heritage Centre and they also have festivals on during the summer months and a short walk into town. http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-to-rent/property-31697456.html?showcase=true http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-to-rent/property-27459919.html http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-to-rent/property-24574073.html
  3. I think you may need to look in another area not necessarily sheffield. You need to look the Yorkshire area as I have Bertha Deakin Married to Thomas Hall in 1931 if you look at Freebmd. Which would make Bertha 31 which was quite old to be getting married for the 1st time but it was registered in Hull. I would look at areas from Hull over to Sheffield you may find your answers includind Doncaster and Rotherham as the areas you have mentioned could be either.
  4. It wouldn't have been a paupers grave as they wouldn't have had a headstone. If you have a Headstone then it was most certainly paid for by a relative or a friend. It may be that she is a married relative more than once. You would need to check the Census records if it says she died aged 63 in 1905 then you go back to the 1901 census and work you rway back to the 1951 census which may give you the information you need. Good luck with finding out who she is.
  5. Dawn Yes it was around 30's & 40's one of the oldest schools amongst others in the city.
  6. Been in on Saturday. Not impressed at all. If your drinking you go in the bar entrance if your eating you go through the dining entrance but once in there it's more or less all in one just with different sides. Wasn't impressed with the staff they didn't look happy at all but that's probably as it's the same people running it. Drinks over priced it's like there trying to attract the younger end which don't have the money to pay for the drinks anyway. The music was very loud even at 5.30-6.00 and the atmosphere was odd. Not be going back again.
  7. You could try http://www.findmypast.co.uk this holds all the records including the 1841 census. You may have to buy some credits to access some of the census's. The only other thing would be to go to the sheffield archives where all the paper records are kept. Also sheffield libraries will have books on sheffield in different era's.
  8. I have used either Ann Summers in Meadowhall or for some really great stuff try Pulse & Cocktails. London Road, Hillsborough, Rotherham
  9. I remember Cobbler Joe from Mawfa. He was a regular in the Baggy and he used to do my dad's and my shoes. He was a character.
  10. I was in the same year as them all. Lee lived around the corner from me on Adastral Avenue. Terry lived on Blackstock Road and Tim lived on Blackstock Crescent and I think Brett lived on the Herdings.
  11. Try talking to the people who own the Babylon restaurant in Pitsmoor as they have a Shisha smoking area outside. They may be able to give you some advice.
  12. My husband passed away at a young age 16 months ago and I was appalled yesterday to get home from work to find that HMRC had sent a tax return through to me hand written with his name and deceased written twice on the return. Needless to say I have a written back to them enclosing the tax return detailing how disgusted I am with them. It seems HMRC can't do anything right these days. Has anybody else had anything like this happen.
  13. I have the same problem and when I contacted the electricity company they said that if you rent your landlord is reponsible but if you own your property then it is your responsibility to purchase a new door and fit it yourself. You can purchase them from Padgets or similar place.
  14. I was adopted and my father's name wasn't on the birth certificate. Unless the birth mother is prepared to tell you then you will not be able to trace who it is. Also it is whether the birth mother is telling the truth if she does tell you. My advice is to leave well alone as it could possibly cause trouble for a family that has nothing to do with you. You would have to make sure that your birth mother is trustworthy of giving you a correct name. My advice would be to leave well alone as I did in your situation.
