  1. Rivelin burial ground is owned by the Roman catholic church and I think the one next door to it is privately owned by a religious group, therefore nothing can be done about them as it is private land.
  2. is it not time to stop looking for revenge and let the dead rest in peace?
  3. Sorry to hear about Mr Houdmont, he taught me maths at Hurlfield (68 to 73) and went out of his way to explain the intricacies that I didn't understand, he was a fantastic teacher, R.I.P. Farewell, Sue Goddard
  4. My thoughts and prayers go to this young mans family, my daughter was murdered by her husband in march this year so I know just what they are going through, Rest In Peace Thavisha and I hope the scum who did this are caught and get Life. Sue
  5. My daughter was killed earlier this year and I closed our curtains for the funeral, it's something that my family have always done.
  6. Hi, although not a lively reply, I would just like to say that my husband & I have spent 15 happy years sitogether since the kids have grown up & left home, however 6 weeks ago one of our daughters was murdered & her husband charged , now on remand for muurder, at the ages of 61 (him) & 56 (me) We are now parents again , and what a roller coaster it is, the elder giirl (7) is just like her mum and the younger one is the double of her mum's younger broother it's like turning the clock back 30 years, But I think we are young enough at heart to get through this . ---------- Post added 16-04-2013 at 20:31 ---------- my husband and I have just become parents again to the grandaughters age 5 & 7, daddy is on remand for mummys murder, and we have become parents again aged 62 (him), 56 (me). What a roller coaster & certainlly what we didn't expect at our age!!!! '
  7. I,m paying £2,700 for my 35 year old daughters funeral on Wednesday, When I rang the Co-op for a quote the price given was £3,400,needless to say I didn't choose the Co-op
  8. I posted about this bedroom tax some time ago and said I was going to downsize, unfortunately my daughter was killed 4 weeks ago & I now need the spare bedrooms for her daughters aged 5 and 7.
  9. Having read most of the opinions on here I recently signed up to move to a smaller home, I live in a small village and the house we occupy is similar to a Vic Hallam house, If the council find me a smaller home it is going to cost up to £10 a week extra in benefits as the only 2 bed houses are all brick built and obviously they cost more, the government will appreciate the empty 3 bed house but I don't think they're going to like the extra money its going to cost.
  10. Does anyone remember a duo doing the club rounds in the 80's called Dark & Ginger?
  11. Hi Ann, Yes I remember Harold & Mary Wilkinsons fish & chips, best in Sheffield, near to the Moulders (Foundry Workers) club.
  12. My great aunt was the daughter of a spaniard/italian, her fathers name was Antonio Steffani and her mother was Domenica Masserella, family say that Domenica came to England to look after her brothers and we always wonder if they were related to the Ice cream makers.
  13. I live on benefits and am not Well Off!!! My husband was a professional singer working the Pubs and Clubs across the country, he even went to a booking when his mother died because he didn't want to let people down, and then in 1997 at the age of 45 he had 2 strokes, this has left him with short term memory loss, constant pain for which he has morphine, depression, ocd and a whole other load of problems, he will never work again and I am his full time carer, oh and he has a degree, B.A Hons in music, I drive a car which my parents bought for us and mobility very kindly pay our road tax, we live in a 3 bedroom council house which Mr Cameron would like us to vacate for somewhere smaller, unfortunately we live in a small village without any smaller properties, so moving is not an option, we therefore will have to find extra money each week out of the benefits we get, I'm not complaining but pointing out that not all people on benefits are scroungers.
  14. My council home cannot be mortgaged as it is classed as Non standard construction, which is why we haven't bought it, As I said in an earlier post, if the council could find me a bungalow I would move, however if I ever do get one, who's going to pay the moving costs and relay my wooden flooring and actually help with the move? My husband is disabled so he can't do it, I don't think the government has thought this through. agree with Moonbird, there should be some sort of financial help.
