  1. Hi Dorothy sockett is my auntie. Still alive 2022. My dad Keith is her brother, still alive 2022. 14 kids in total from Dunlop street.
  2. Can anybody answer this question? Bought a car from a dealer almost two years ago on finance (still paying). A friend recently said he thought it had been in an accident, i obviously said no having not been involved in any accidents at all. If i do the checks etc and find out that the car had been involved in an accident prior to my purchase date and i was not informed of this by the dealer either verbally or on any paperwork what can i do? Did the dealer have an obligation to inform me when i purchased the car dependent of the catagory of damage. Can i tell the finance company and see what they say, i just dont know. Searched the web to no outcome
  3. I Wonder if Preston should lodge a law suit against Utd for fielding a dodgy player? Sound familiar
  4. Is it just me or do you have to be unemployed, on drugs, alcoholic, just come out of prison, suffered mental or physical abuse or preggy amongst other things to get a council property? These were the criteria i was asked to claim "priority". Dont get me wrong all the things listed above other then drink and drugs use (or maybe preggy, although some do this to get a house) are genuine reasons. But other then lie through your teeth what chance do you have of getting a property from the council or housing assoc.? My circumstances are fairly common to cut a long story short, split up with my wife, no home so relying on friends and family to put me up. In full time employment so i can pay my way with full rent and council tax etc, yet not offered anything in a year. Bid every single week for a year, i know a year is not a long time but when your living with friends and family it is, yet nothing. You see on the council web site about the properties you bid on and they are allocated to "priority" applicants who have not been on the list other then a few weeks or months. As as for the "first come first served" part of the site what a joke, every single property is for over 40, 55 or 60. Declaring myself homeless was not an option for reason i'm sure many of you would understand working in full time employment. How long have you been on the list with no joy? Thanks my rant is over now hehe
  5. passenger info displays are going to be tested soon on supertram, again all down to funding from SYPTE and a bit from Stagecoach. Keep a look out around the city for one
  6. Yes the tram was hired by a railway appre society, For two days at there own cost, each to there own i guess ?
  7. In answer to one point, there is only ONE grinding machine in Europe and you have to "book" this well in advance. If the noise is getting worse then i would say contact Supertram and advise them.
  8. Hi Cleegirl, the lady you are talking about is my auntie Dot, still alive and lives at Hackenthorpe, Sheffield. My Dad is obvioulsy her brother. All lived in Webster Street, 14 Children in total.
  9. ok lets hope this give you some of the answers needed? Trams "Track Brakes" are electromagnetic brakes consists of electromagnets in a steel frame. Two braking magnets are fitted in each bogie one on each side between the wheels. The braking magnets only move vertically. In track braking, the electromagnets are energised and released onto the rails. The magnet effect between the electromagnets and the rails increases friction and thus the braking effect. The increased friction results in an increase in rail wear and on the rail shoe surfaces of the track brake. For this reason, the track brake is not used for normal service driving, but only as an additional brake in special cases. E.g. Hazard Brake, Emergency braking, penalty full service brake or a dead man situation. The track brake is revocable therefor the driver can "dip" in and out to reduce speed quickly if needed, also when applied the tram detects "slip slide" and activates ABS control until standstill and drops sand for extra grip. Once stopped the tracke brake releases. Well you asked hope this clears somethings up haha
  10. are people still reading this thread? If you want to know the real fact about the announcments or any other stuff abou the tram then please ask away. Anybody still want some tram clothing e.g. tie etc let me know and ill try and sort it out!
  11. Just my point of view but maybe BOTH sheffield clubs could name the "KOPS" after derek dooley seeing as he did alot for both? Derek Dooley drew both sides of sheffield together in one way through "Football". This way football will be the way DD should be remembered. RIP DD
  12. Time is 1am and did we just have an earthquake? i live in woodhouse mill and the whole house shoke for about 2 - 3 secs. very strange?
  13. I think we are lacking in the striker department, Leon Clarke is just not good enough or just not bothered his attitude when at wolves was always in question. Tudgay or Burton just don't seem to have the goals in them, when he plays wade small up front along with Tudgay we must have the small'ist attack in the league, Yes i still think we need a good centre-back and i think somebody in mid field who can pass a ball or maybe put in a challenge (bring back Sheridan)
  14. i really hope so, the new lad hides or is it hydes? looks ok, played well against birmingham, but as far as letting hills go and persisting with gilbert and letting McClean go for what i hear was about wages and £50,000 is utter bad management. And as for leon clarke , well what can i say ?????
