  1. I remember them very well, we lived in the first Prefab just round the corner, the man who kept chickens was David? Prosser and his coup was just beyond the bottom of our garden, further down the first houses on the same side was my pal Steve Gawthorpe ? whose mum worked at Sutherland Rd Baths, my other pal Steve Taffenders mum also worked at the baths. Happy days but sooo long ago. Grimey youth club, Francis Butler, Gongie, Snakey, Valerie Howson, Vicky Walshaw, What was her boyfriend "Spud's" proper name, Sheila Hepplestone, Alan Ainsworth, Terry from Popple St (What was his surname) Susan Brooks, Sid Duty ( his big brother was tragically killed), John Heritage, Theresa across our road, Steve Drabble and his big brother Dave, William Thomas the mad Welshman and his donkey. What was the name of the corner shop on Cyclops St... Swindells ? Endsors was the Grocers on the corner of Cyclops St and Grimesthorpe Rd and Gledhills shop was further up Grimey Rd opposite side to steps in the wall and mid way between Endors and Margate Drive. There was a Dairy just round the corner from Grimey Methodist Chapel that we used to go to from the Youth club and buy frozen Jubblies was it "Friths.... Forths ?". I've not been on here for years, some of the old posters must have moved on to the "Grimey in the Sky" like my baby brother Philip Anyone help me with the missing names above
  2. Hi Dave, remember me, Chris Pryor, we were in the same class, I seem to recall you lived in Woodhouse off Station Rd
  3. Does anyone have an old street map showing the roads that Collins Swap shop and Oldfields dairy were on, I can remember the old bus shelter at the end of Peter St where we used to swing somersaults over the handrail but the road configuration has gone both physically and in my head. Where did the number 4 bus used to go after the end of Peter St
  4. No He He I lived on Margate Drive next to the YEB transformer building with mom dad and young brother We moved to Wisewood when I was twelve, this was when they demolished the prefabs on Margate Drive
  5. He He Thanks for that, long time ago and I was 12 when I left Grimethorpe, couldn't remember Steve's brother but now I seem to recollect he had a sister. Remember one long hot Summer when me Steve and Dirt ( Tony Martin )used to play cards and smoke in the broken greenhouse in their big garden/field on Grimesthorpe Rd. What was his sisters name. I'm sure his Mum used to work at Sutherland Rd swimming baths and Steve Gawthorpes mum too, am I remembering correctly it's exactly half a century ago. It'd be great to see Steve again Shooter
  6. Hi S (it is S isn't it ) Does Steve Taffinder ever come on the forum, it'd be great to talk to him. Regards Shooter
  7. He He you say the Taffinders lived on Cyclops St, when I knew Steve T he lived with his Mum in the big house which backed onto Grimesthorpe Rd at the top of Smiths' field, they had a big Alsatian which I think was called Sheba, anyone remember ? Is Steve Taffinder still around Shooter
  8. Pulled Pork sounds pornographic to me and the thought of the white sauce dressing turns my stomach. Is it only me ? ! ?
  9. I lived on Margate Drive and they weren't ordinary houses they were prefabs. We lived at second one up from Grimesthorpe Rd on the right, lived there 'till they pulled 'em down Shooter
  10. Brian I went to the Central Tech with Glyn Ward, his nickname was "Ox" 'cos he was as big as. They lived at the last house but one on the right of Whiteways before you got to Cooks field Shooter
  11. Not been on here for a couple of years, forgot what I'm missing (nostalgia isn't what it used to be) Just read a mention of Oldfields dairy, we used to pop in there from the Grimey Methodist youth club for a frozen Jubbly or round the corner to Swindels ? shop if the dairy was closed, anyone remember the youth club. Shooter
  12. Does anyone remember the young men in white waiters jackets who used to wait on the tables and I seem to remember there were bell pushes on the walls behind the seating to summon the waiters. It always struck me as a lttle sexist as Vera only employed women behind the bar and men waiting on. I think this was in the seventies. Can anyone help confirming my recollection and the dates.
  13. Nettie I'm losing it bit by bit ( am I holding on too tight !). Terry Mac, Alan Ainsworth and Graham Turley were my best pals at Grimey Juniors and I Don't recognise GT on your photo nor Dave Dolman. Think I remember the first floor hall where the pic was taken, I think the door behind was to our classroom, was our teacher Miss Hanson or was she the Head ..........or was she both. Shooter
  14. Philip Pryors' memorial service will be at St. Johns' Church, Fulwood Road, Ranmoor, Sheffield at 1.30 pm on Tuesday 6th.September and afterwards in the Ranmoor Inn. All friends and family welcome. Chris Pryor
