Anyone on here go to Ecclesfield Comprehensive School?
charliewag replied to beamer's topic in Sheffield History & Expats
When Cliff Richard came we thought it was going to be a concert. When we found it was a religious thing we didn't bother going. To us young lads, Miss Amery was a bit of a cracker! -
One thing that came as a bit of a shock to a football mad youngster like me was that the school only played rugby union and cricket.

I passed mine in 1970. We were living near Middlesbrough at the time and I went to Eston grammar school. There were a few of us from the same class in the juniors who passed the exam. I spent a year there before moving to Sheffield through my dad's job.

To cut down on my working hours and to increase my fishing hours.

It may well have been a polecat but it also could have been a mink. There are quite a few along the River Don and a coarse fishery in your area has permission to set traps for mink in order to protect fish stocks.

I've just turned 64 and I can't wait to retire. I reduced my working hours last year and plan to reduce them further some time in the near future.

Does The Hot Weather Make You Feel Guilty?
charliewag replied to HumbleNarrator's topic in General Discussions
I've been off work for the past month recovering from surgery and i've made the most of this lovely weather by going fishing four or five times a week. -
You need to live in S4,5 or 6 to obtain a permit. Proof of address is required along with a current rod licence and a passport type photo. The cost is £60 for the first season ( joining fee, permit + gate key ) then currently £25 thereafter. Permits can be obtained at the pond Sat/Sun mornings 10 - 12 during April. It's a mixed fishery and they can be caught on a variety of methods and baits.
