  1. Great thread this one and a few names spring to my mind from over the years playing for Dronfield Woodhouse CC. John Bridgett a legend for this club on and off the pitch. His off spin down the slope at the “Rec” was incredible and used to have many a batsmen puzzled. I recall one game against in particular against Hathersage CC they had a opener who was scoring heavy (more slogs than strokes). However John came on and he didn’t have an answer getting him in his very first over. Unsure if still playing be great if so.
  2. Hi Sheff66, I have just moved to Dronfield and would like to join a team who play at a decent Standard. I have played for many teams and remember many grudge matches against DWCC over the years. I recall the left handed opening bat you had a couple of years ago. He thought he was Brian lara however we knew how to get him as never moves his feet. I now live within walking distance to your home pitch I thought you would be the perfect club. However having spoke to many locals in the pubs around Dronfield Woodhouse they have stated that the standard of cricket played at DWCC is poor now? This was a little off putting? Hopefully was just hear say. Thanks John
  3. Hi, can anyone advise what this is like? And the surrounding area? Looking at houses in the area. I've seen the thread from 2012 is this similar now? Thanks in advance
  4. Hi Baggers1987 as a lowedges stalwart and having lived here the majority of my life i have to agree with you that in recent years the crime rate is increasing. After myself getting mugged a few years ago near the bowling green at Bradway i tend to make sure im home before dark. Thanks John
  5. Hi Tim, Whats the standard like at DWCC nowadays? Always loved a knock on the REC but heard that the standard has slipped dramatically in recent years? Thanks John
  6. No mens team at the Golden Lion Keeley? Not too far for me this!
  7. White Hart Greenhill would be a great Venue for this!
  8. Awful to hear about this! Before 7am also not many people about!
  9. Hi, Used to do my salsa at Revolution De Cuba last year but havent been for awhile. Let me know would love to come along.
  10. Baggers1987, Nice to see a fellow Arrows enthusiast. As stated on here Mag7 Darts good league to play in some steady players. Me myself not a great player so tend to play with my mates either in Contact Club at Dronfield or White Hart Greenhill. Welcome along to play with us! Our 3 dart averages between 15-20 and very rarely hit over a 100, so you should be ok. Cheers
  11. Here we go, very interesting this is. As I have joined the Sheffield Forum this morning purposely to look for a thread regarding this bloke. Whilst driving home from my shift last night (1am ish) I was outside Dore & Totley GC at the traffic lights when this bloke ran across the road infront of my car shouting “why” proceeding to go and lie on the bowling green across the road! Maybe just a heavy night on the tiles and the “why” as to “why” the pubs closed! All in all a very strange and weird experience!
