  1. I emailed and got a response that all the bin lorries are equipped with brushes and it is their policy that the crews should sweep up after any spillages. Which i have seen many times, is simply utter nonsense, they do not.
  2. We have had at least 6 occasions in the last three years where we have not been able to park due to arena events so the cinema and restaurants missed out on our custom. As a result we now go to the meadowhall oasis and cinema there on the occasions where we don't want to drive into town. We won't go back to centertainment regulars until the car parking is addressed.
  3. Good news for city centre regeneration that a new solution to the new retail quarter is being worked on. It'll take time but will be worth it. Hope some of the significant architecture can be incorporated.
  4. Made me chuckle, thank you! Can't speak for others but personally I have no connection apart from customer. Mind you, in terms of negative comments, there was a right furore in the early days of this thread (c2009?!) about buns not being labelled and what a disgrace. I thought people were just perhaps making a fuss and pavlova over nothing!
  5. I have been a great fan of la perle since it opened, I still enjoy the cakes and coffee and since I stopped drinking find it is a good evening place to go to socialise without booze. I have also been enjoying their daily main mean specials which are usually on display in the counter near the open kitchen. Thought I would bump this old thread, can't believe the place has been open nearly 6 years!
  6. Hi Beat Chemist, Thanks for saying hi. Do you know if there are still coffee mornings on saturdays?
  7. I would recommend la Perle on Wicker, great coffee and lovely cakes, plus serves hot food too. Not sure what time open till but I have been in past 10.
  8. Hello, Thought I would bump this thread and see if there is any take up from othe plot holders to use it as a kind of general discussion/ notices thread for goings on on Grimesthorpe and Roes Woods. We are celebrating 10 years of being on grimesthorpe plot 67! Who else is here?
  9. Great, we will be there. Craig and John, plot 67
  10. Another vote for Mangla for me, I think the food is great.
  11. Amazingly the wind seems to have blown away a cast iron bath we used as a water butt, an old tin watering can and a rusty old wheelbarrow from my plot on Grimesthorpe allotments. Having had to shut the security gate on arrival, twice while on site, again when leaving, it seems the wind is even managing to unlock the padlock and blown open the gate, allowing all this stuff to just blow away.
  12. Suebeedoo- I would love some, if you remember by the time the frosts come... Which will be ages, ages and ages... he wishes.
  13. Hello, Regards pruning If in doubt just leave it- if you chop the wrong bits yi could miss any crop for next year and have to wait till the year after- that happened to me as my uncle thought mine were the ones you chop right down! Have sent you a pm. Craig
  14. I just realised this year that we have seen hide nor hair of our jerusalem artichokes for the last couple of years. If anyone has a spare handful to re-plant i am happy to come over and collect. If you happen to be on Grimesthorpe alotments all the better! Also has anyone any ways to cook them without the extreme reactions that some in our family suffered?
