  2. Is anybody else having problems with this? Mine is not working and I can't get through to.Sky and I'm trying to work out if it's a problem with my pc or their network. Posting from phone. Thanks
  3. The person I know has a job but is mainly off on the sick and has been that way for about a decade. He is very definitely of the type where he will be being asked some serious questions about what he's claiming with the changes coming in.
  4. I've got an interview coming up for Insight out in Darnall and I was wondering if anybody on here had ever worked for them and could you advise if they're any good to work for or not? I know it's a call centre type environment so was wondering what it staff morale is like and if there is a high staff turnover as I know they're common in that type of environment. Thanks
  5. Does anybody know if there is a time restriction on the times Parkwood Academy's building site can operate? They seem to be their really late some nights with machines and lights and I wondered if there was supposed to be a time limit on when they could operate if anyone knows???
  6. Interestingly I saw this article on a march for women's rights in Egypt on International Women's Day which was basically shut down by a load of men who chased them off. Plus it gives these figures: Only 17% of Egyptian women and 2% of foreign women HAVEN'T been sexually harrased in Egypt which basically means that a few old ladies haven't been sexually harrassed but everyone else has. Plus the majority of men sexually harrass and the majority of men in Egypt believe sexual harrasment is the fault of the harrassed women. It's disgraceful, I though Islam was supposed to be about respecting women and chastity. In Pakistan it is apparently called 'Eve Teasing' and is done by men in order to intimidate women into not going out alone and curtailing their independence. Apparently even wearing a sodding burka doesn't protect you according to the BBC: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/7514567.stm Backward isn't the word....
  7. At work I always smile because these are people I know and interact with, it would be rude not to, and I like nearly all of them. On the street I don't smile because I'm going about my business and don't necessarily want to interact with every Tom, Dick and Harry on the street. Not that I have anything against them, just I find if you walk around the streets smiling at people smiling at the wrong person can get you in trouble and you find yourself saddled with a nutter. Plus sometimes myself I do tend to find the type of people who walk down the street smiling at other people tend to have a higher than average ratio chance of being bats**t mental.
  8. Talk to the landlord, he might be able to get students in at this time of year and decide to give her the heave ho. Also if there's mates round all the time, getting drunk and being noisy and not showing any respect to the neighbours they're probably not going to show any respect to the house either and he's going to end up with a big problem on his hands. I suspect she doesn't have a kid either and just said she was moving in with as she might have been turned down as a young person on her own.
  9. They are allowed to do that. I'm assuming that what the problem is that they've been having problems with some sort of scam. I'm not sure exactly what but I suspect what it may be is that if people have seen something they've bought with a cheaper price tag a week later they'll go and buy another one of the same and return it using the receipt for the more expensive one making an extra tenner cash. Don't their blue cross sales go down by a particular mark up each week? If a gang was organised and was also using gift cards to take some of the credit on and sell on I'm guessing quite a bit of cash could be made out of that.
  10. Yeah, but if she gets the law involved it will make it difficult for her to find another job and she'll probably lose her reference as well. It's a catch 22 situation.
  11. Again, it's a small company so there's nowhere further to take it.
  12. Oh gawd, I was in the same situation when I worked for a small company too. Not with sexual harrassment but a whole lot of nasty behaviour went on. It's difficult to get any kind of comeback in a small company because there's usually just one or two owners and their word is law, you don't have any HR department or union to back you up and there's sod all you can do about it in situations like this unless you quit your job.
  13. If she's not got a Union she should go to citizens advice pronto so that she knows her rights.
