  1. There's some information here about other benefits. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/social-care-and-support-guide/money-work-and-benefits/benefits-if-you-are-over-state-pension-age/
  2. Didn't work for Moore and Wright! but i walked past the warehouse they had at Meadowhead on my way home from Jordanthorpe School in the 1960s. Locating the warehouse on a map today, would put the building just before Meadowhead roundabout on the St James Retail Park side of Bochum Parkway.
  3. Remember buying a Beatles jacket and wearing it for the first time on a night out at Club 60, ditched it when I changed my allegiance to the Stones. Had suit's made in the late 60s by Isadore Newman and Ted Mackley, had my wedding suit made by Ted Williams on London Road in 71, paid 40 guineas, I think the tie was 12/11, i couldn't get my head around how to convert to the new currency. Think the suit's in the loft. I'll have to get it down and see if it still fits.😊
  4. Hi lizbiz , There are a couple of photos on Picture Sheffield of the shops on Derbyshire Lane, here's one of them! https://picturesheffield.com/frontend.php?action=printdetails&keywords=Ref_No_increment;EQUALS;s36785
  5. Hi Annie & hillsbro - yes i agree! This clip is from the 1871 White's directory, each Terrace numbered individually.
  6. hillsbro's 1880s map shows the location of Oaks Bank on Whitham Road the 1862 address of Windsor Terrace, to be somewhere between the Richer Sounds building and Parkers Lane. There's a date stone on the Richer Sounds building for 1888. I guess Windsor Terrace was demolished and replaced by this block of buildings. This screen shot from Google Maps shows a block of older buildings just above the Richer Sounds building. Could this block be part of the original Windsor Terrace?
  7. Whites 1862 directory lists the address as Windsor Terrace, Oaks Bank, this location is shown on the NLS map. https://maps.nls.uk/view/102345217
  8. One of my school mate's lived in the row of houses at Lowedges! There was a Miss Enock living at the first house in the row, we used to scrump apples from her back garden in the 50s.
  9. I guess my mind's playing tricks Jim! Am i mixing up my groups up, was it with the Yardbirds that i saw Eric Clapton play at the Mojo and not Creme?
  10. Sad to hear that Ginger Baker had died Saw him a couple of times at the Esquire Club in 1964 along with Jack Bruce when they both played in The Graham Bond Organisation, saw him at the Mojo Club a couple of years later with newly formed super group Creme. (or was it at Pete Stringfellows other club The Blue Moon?)
  11. Think Tommy Hoylands still around!
  12. Not quite Etta James but a great cover nevertheless! Here compare for yourselves.
