  3. Hi, I wonder if anyone could recommend a good mobile mechanic, only I’m having problems with my battery draining. For a bit of background once jump started the car goes fine. At first I thought the problem could be weather related, however the recent milder weather along with the increasing frequency of needing to jump start the car suggests some other cause. Anyway I took it to Halfords last night to test battery to establish whether this is my alternator, a weak/ faulty battery or faulty wiring and wouldn’t you know sometime between jumpstarting on Sunday night and arriving at Halfords my bonnet release cable had decided to detach. Needless to say I wasn’t able to either open the bonnet or check the battery. And just to rub salt into the wound when I went to start the car this morning I discovered that the battery is now flat and can’t get the bonnet up to jump start it to take to a garage. Having checked YouTube I’ve found out how to release the bonnet but don’t have the confidence / jack to do it myself and would really appreciate recommendations on reliable mobile mechanics contact. I actually suspect my car stereo, which no longer works, might be draining the battery might but I don’t know how to get the stereo out and I it was in the car when I bought it don’t have the tools to take it out myself, so advice on how to get that out would also be really helpful too =. Anyway thanks for reading my sorry and somewhat pathetic tale of woe, I really look forward to receiving your recommendations. For what it’s would I’m based in Nether Edge, but I guess that would not be as important for a Mobile Mechanic and would ideally like it if the person could attend today or tomorrow. Ps . I did actually do a quick forum search for mobile mechanic, but saw that a lot of the threads didn’t actually make recommendations before getting hijacked by debates on the speed that jobs can be performed. Also not sure whether information from 2011 would still be relevant :/. As you problably now a lot can change in three years! Ps. Have already contacted http://www.jbautorepairs.co.uk/prices.htm or 0794 4609 964 (left voicemail) and know of Mick Harrison 07891295319 (can’t get through) so any other options would be gladly received. Many thanks
  4. Hmmm seemly so..... Lots of views but no more takers. I guess accepting an invitation from a random stranger on a forum is not everyone's cup of tea! It's shame the post has attracted more spectators then willing participants. :/
  5. Hey Electerrific, (great handle btw), Thanks for kicking things off! (Phew..... at least I won't potentially be Norman no mates! ) You're definitely embracing that sense of adventure. Glad your eagle eyes also spotted my "deliberate mistake" , I keep forgetting that people can't read mind (although you did a pretty good job). I must remember that it's always a good idea to tell people the intended day as well as the time! Anyone else game?
  6. Hey there Sheffield folk, I'm a well travelled 36 yo woman recently moved back to Sheffield looking to widen my social circle by meeting some new and interesting people. And wondered if anyone fancied joining me next weekend for some casual sunny afternoon drinks at the Forum from 1pm (fingers crossed on the sun bit). I can't imagine I'm the only person in this friendly city of ours who 1. Needs an excuse to enjoy the sunshine (god please let it be sunny:)) 2. Wouldn't mind meeting some new people. 3. Adventurous enough to give this a whirl. Come on let's make an event of it. What's the worse that could happen? I look forward to hearing from you.
  7. Hi Sheffers, Just wondered whether there were any bods from Sheffield going down to Latitude festival new week. Get in touch if you need a left or want to share a the journey costs if you have your own transport. Looking forward to hearing from you. Cheers,
  8. Dear Reader Thank you for taking the time to read this post.... Having recently returned to Sheffield after an extended period away I've found it exceeding difficult to find regular literary events in Sheffield. With this in mind I would be interested in importing a personal favourite of mine by holding a regular Book Slam type event to Sheffield (see http://www.bookslam.com ), tailored to meet a Sheffield audience. Naturally the popularity of the event would ultimately dictate the frequency, but ideally I'd like it to be a monthly thing ( you know like the first Thursday of the month) The basic format Top and or celebrated writers. Spoken word and poetry. The best in local live music and performances (musician, juggler, comedian etc) DJ ?? I saw something similar during Off the Shelf Festival at the Forum last October. To be a viable event the venture would have to be Self-sustaining. Revenue generating (a reasonable admission fee £7.50 to £8.00) Non-profit (all profit ploughed back into the enterprise, hiring venue, promotion etc). Have formal legal structure (for funding purposes). , In the longer term I'd also hope to secure some external funding (Art Council, Big Lottery, local council etc) and local sponsorship. Please get in touch as I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on Whether something like this or similar already exists in Sheffield. ( if so please get in touch as I'd love to get involved to help you with your venture) The viability of this proposal (Would this kind of thing fly in Sheffield, is there an appetite for it here?) People interested in getting involved (please indicate how i.e administrative, logistics, performance side, writing funding applications, social media wizard, graphic designers, etc. Suggestions on venues, format, people to approach etc I don't see why we can't establish Sheffield as the literary mecca of the North. We certainly have a large pool of talent here, backed by a long, illustrious and proud history of creativity. Thanks for giving me your time and I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
  9. Hi there, I wonder whether anyone else has noticed the strong smell of burning in Shiregreen (S5) of the last few evenings? I can't smell it during the day, but there is definitely a distinctive smell of an industrial, rather than a domestic wood burning fire in the evenings! I noticed a thread about a similar burning smell in Wadsley (S6) but there was no definitive answer. Any thoughts? Are the farms burning stuff? Is anything happening at Blackburn meadows? Cheers
  10. Hi there, I just wanted to find out whether; 1) anyone is planning a street party in their community? 2) there's a website that lists the activities and events that are taking place in Sheffield to mark the jubilee. 3) anyone is interested in planing or promoting a street party and need help because I represent a team of people who would like to offer free help setting up your event. I look forward to hearing from you.
  11. Thanks for the tip. I'll check it out new time I'm in WH Smiths
  12. Hi there, Petra here. I'm a newbie to this group and I'm interested in joining you guys to see the Woman in The Fifth. So is the consensus Tuesday 21st @ 18:45? Also how does it work i.e. how will I spot you guys?
  13. Hi there, Thanks for stopping by. I sure hope you can help. As a newbie to world of home developing I've been seeing a lot of stuff on bulk film loaders. So I'm curious to see if you could offer some advice on where to buy black & white bulk film? Thanks in advance
  14. Hi all, I know that this thread is 2 years old but I'm wondering if anything came of this? Only I've been bitten and I'm interested in both Western and Eastern (brush and particularly Japanese Calligraphy). Thanks
  15. Re; The class in Pitsmoor is at Christchurch on the corner of Pitsmoor Road and Nottingham Street. From the city centre the 47 or 48 bus will take you there. Could you tell what days the Belly Dance classes at the Christchurch are? I love belly dancing
