  1. Being a Hallam student I saw a notice posted on the uni's online platform this February. It was about the 'hugger mugger' happened in Revolution Bar in an event organised by the student union. It said police had been reported to and more than one people had their phone robbed during the hug. The notice was obviously to remind everyone to beware.
  2. Just got up to spot this object! I've checked through this page beforehand http://spaceflight1.nasa.gov/realdata/sightings/cities/view.cgi?country=United_Kingdom&region=England&city=Sheffield so I'm aware that at 5:31am today it would reach 58degree high and last for 3mins. It was exactly on time and was brighter than any flying aircrafts!! Fantastic!
  3. Where's the depot? you better check whether it's close to the train station. If it is close, then use #53 to Sheffield Station to catch a train (mostly departing at 06 and 36). Bus service 75 takes you from Woodseats to Chapeltown directly. It also serves more part of Chapeltown than trains do. The fare is £4.60 for a return which's cheaper than bus+train. But it takes very long to get there! If you live close to #87 bus route then you should take this one. Although it takes you an hour like #75 but it costs less(£3.20 a return) cos it's Stagecoach's
  4. Yes. By asking him, I won't get the answer as I can't hear his vague and broad Welsh accent! However in this forum I saw there were doormen or members working in clubs discussing here! I may get a good answer through this forum!
  5. Anyway the club should stick to the rule it set! In Corporation club there's a sign printed on the wall listing which kinds of ID the club accepts. I'm not sure if there's also a similar printed list stuck around the Plug's door. If the Army Card is not on the list nor carrying the PASS hologram then it should not be accepted!
  6. One of my flatmates has a British Army Card and last night when we went to the Plug, he showed it to the doorman during the ID check, instead of showing a driving license which was also in his wallet. As far as I know the IDs accepted across the town are driving license and passport, and the others have to be carrying a "PASS" logo. He was stopped and the doorman asked through walkietalkie for another staff to the door. Me and the other flatmates passed the ID check, went inside and waited for him. He joined us within 2 mins. We've no idea did he showed his d/license at last or did the doorman accepted his Army ID. Is the reason for showing his Army card 1) Knowing the card is accepted / might be accepted cos the DoB is on, he wanted to show off that he's a (Territorial) Army member? OR 2) Want to test if this nightclub accepts this card? Background info. I'm a Chinese who's born abroad and I've been going out with my British flatmates many times. The above mentioned flatmate is a Territorial Army member, who speaks an extremely broad Welsh accent that I rarely understand what he says, and is going to take a army service gap year months later. For his strong accent, as well as the fact that other flatmates are yet to wake up. I don't think I'm able to learn the answer to the question shortly. Tell me what you think about the reason for showing Army Card to the doorman!
  7. Apart from 82, you can also catch 81, 83, 84, 85, 88, 214, 215, 218 ,272, 273or 274. 83 and 88 are Stagecoach's and on these routes the adult fare is generally cheaper than First's. Whereabout in town are you going from??
  8. Angel Street stop is outside Argos Extra and 99P Store, opposite to a post office near Castle Square.
  9. I think the 1st is the right day for celebration! When I was in college 2 years ago I heard there was a pupil who was born on 29/2/1992 and needed to wait till 1/3/2010 for drinking! 2010 wasn't a leap year.
  10. If you go by train do prefer the one that departs at XX:23 from Sheffield (CrossCountry Line 2) as this's a non-stop one to Derby, that the journey time is below 30mins. The worst one is CrossCountry Line 1 (XX:54) that's the busiest among the 4 trains each hour.
  11. Check National Express's fare first! Every NX service from Sheffield towards Birmingham stops at Derby! I don't think a single fare could cost more than £10!
  12. Your info is outdated!! 40, 41 were merged into 120 that's been operated by both operators since last Summer!! and First started to offer 50p to students on 120. 44 is no longer 50p as it has stopped serving the Sheffield Uni area. so now the list of First's student 50p single available routes are 120, 52, 81, 82, 84 and 85. http://www.firstgroup.com/ukbus/south_yorkshire/tickets/student_bus_travel/tickets.php In other words, all route number along Ecclesall Rd beginning with "8" are 50p available, including Stagecoach's 83, 88/A. 50p being available on all 120 buses means that in City Road & Manor Top, the number of 50p available service increased from 14 to 17 per hour in the last summer. In the corridor between West St and Castle Square where all 120, 123 and 52 pass through, these 3 services are combined to give up to 32 buses per hour that are 50p available. That is one 50p bus every 1 min 53 sec in average. In Ecclesall Road there're only up to 28 buses per hour.
  13. There's a faster option if you're able to walk fast for almost a mile whilst changing in town! Catch 25/25A/43/43A/44/44A/75/76/X17 to Moorfoot Building. (For X17 the 'Moorfoot' stop is next to Staples) Walk or run to a bus stop on West St that is right opposite to Cavendish bar. Go via Fitzwilliam St where you'll get pass Devonshire Green & Revolution bar. Then, catch 120 or 52. Set your fare budget! Most expensive: £4.90 Sheffield Citywide cross operator ticket 2nd: £4.60 FirstDay Sheffield 3rd: £3.20 Stagecoach Dayrider If you're not using any more buses on the same day, don't need to consider buying any of the above day tickets. Except if you're on a Stagecoach's bus from Woodseats and if the driver says the single fare from there to town is more than £1.80, then the £3.20 ticket may save you money. If you're on no.52, you'll need to get off at Weston Park Hospital and enter through Jessop Wing. If you prefer entering through the hospital's main entrance then only catch no.120 120 and 52 are operated by both operators.
  14. Where did you find there's a service leaving at 02:55? I've looked up the current coach departure timetable for Sheffield coach station there isn't a direct service to Stansted anymore! and there aren't any departures that the time is 2:55am! There's a train that you could arrive Stansted's train station at 09:30 and it leaves Sheffield at 05:29! It's not direct and it involves London Tube as well! Leaving Sheffield. It's the first E.Mid.Train to London! You should search trains at http://www.nationalrail.co.uk Other websites may be fully private and biased in favour of certain train operator!
