Yes, Mick Fagan was married to my aunt Mel. My memories of Mick are few as he seemed to be a very quite person I believe he suffered ill health therefore Mel seemed to be in charge. -

My great aunt Mel Fagan was landlady of several pubs in Sheffield back in the 1930/40/50 I believe the Bridge Inn ( near the Wicker) was her last but from long ago conversations with my grandmother I recall her mentioning The Durham Ox and the Castle on Manor Lane. Mels daughter my aunt Margaret was landlady of a pub in Crosspool maybe Tavern? The Barrel in Broard Lane renamed Fagans was named after Joe Fagan my uncle. My parents also entered the licensed trade but in other parts of the country. this has brought so many memories back of childhood visits and drinking lemonade in the back kitchen as unlike today children were not allowed in public houses and fizzy drinks were a rare treat! -
Southend Place was my birth place lived there from 1948 - 1955 happy childhood

Norfolk Park what was there before?
isle hopper replied to FATBLOBBY's topic in Sheffield History & Expats
I recall my mother telling me about her wedding reception was held in the park pavilion in Norfolk Park in 1947 could this be correct? I remember going to the park in the 1950s as a young child and having ice cream from the pavilion also the adults having cups of tea, this was a real treat for working class people. -

I was in the same class at St Pauls and if my memory is correct St Oswalds? -
Hi Mel, I remember you I sat next to your sister Eleanor in junior one and didn't you have a younger sister? You performed in the St Oswalds concert and I believe it was also performed at the City hall, Sheffield. I remember Mr Martin, he always seemed to wear a brown suit! The other teachers I remember are Miss Mulligan, Mr Harrison, Mr Danson, Mrs Hosty as you also recall, Mr Simmerson, Mr Ibbotson, Miss Finnegan, Miss Crossley Miss O'Neil,Mrs Mcgill, Mrs Grant, Bernadette her daughter was in the same class. I think you were in the class above. What memories, I hope you and your family are still enjoying music and are in good health. So pleased someone from the time I spent at St Oswalds has some memories.

St Oswalds school Wybourn from 1952 to 1962 then St Pauls Granville Road any other ex pupils out there? -
Hi Black Eyes, hope you are enjoying your trip home, I was born and bred on the Wybourn (Southend Place) 1948-1956 but went to St Oswalds until 1962. My grandma lived on Southend place until her passing in the eighties, also many of my relatives our paths may have crossed!
