  5. I wont be able to make the area panel meeting as I am working, not that I think it will make much difference any way. they are hardly going to reverse their decisions are they? I wonder if any of the decision makers/road planners actually ever use the the roads that they are supposedly "making safer" on a regular basis, if they did they would see for themselves that most of their plans are just not working. The new so called road improvement on Meersbrook Park Road are an absolute joke, the chicane right on the junction with chesterfield Road is an accident waiting to happen. As you approach turn left into MPR from chesterfield road, you need to give it a wide berth to get round, I use this junction every morning, and see the difficulties it can cause. P.S Regarding Sheffield Concil. I have lost all faith in them, when I have spoken to them regarding other matters, they always refer me on to another dept, and so on and so on, no one wants to know, If the problem does not concern them directly they really could not care less.
  6. I recently started driving up Meersbrook Avenue to get to Carfield School from Heeley, to avoid going through Newfield Green and down Carfield Road after speed bumps were installed there, so much for trying to avoid them! my theory is that the council just want to make everyones life a misery! (yes I do need to take the car or I'd never get to work on time) Before the speedbumps were installed the traffic flowed easier! they have put a chicane bang opposite a bus stop on Carfield Road, that really takes the biscuit when there is a bus actually stopping there, the traffic is stopped in both directions while passengers get on and off the bus!
  7. Hi Kblade, The Bride Inn on Heeley Bottom are having a bonfire night do, but it is on friday 4th 6-10pm, looks like it maight be a good night for the kids, food & various stalls etc. I saw it advertised on a poster outside carfield school. Sheffield Works Dept Social Club on Heeley Bank Road do something every year, the fireworks are really good, (I see them out of my front room window) I've been told there is a buffet as well, £1.00 per ticket, But i don't know if you have to be a member to get tickets. Hope you get fixed up.
  8. Hi Wendy, I'm really sorry to hear about your speech problem, and that BSL isn'nt the best course of action for you, would it be worth trying to get a second opinion re your speech therapist? Best wishes to you the very best of luck in the future in your quest for communication. Please feel free to PM me any time.
  9. In reply to wendys post, yes it does take time to learn, but nothing worthwhile is learnt overnight. My daughter who is hearing passed her level 1 BSL when she was 13. BSL is used by the deaf community, don't be put off by hearsay. My auntie went deaf literally overnight and found BSL her communication lifeline, she says that without BSL her life would be miserable. That is what puts in in perpective for me. I don't find it easy to learn, but i still keep plugging at it!
  10. Sorry Jayjay, I was told that they had already moved!
  11. If you are thinking of starting up your own business, try contacting Sheffield Enterprise Agency (SENTA) at the bottom of the Moor, The old Chamber of commerce building. They can advise you about business start ups, creating a business plan, and funding advice, this may depend on where you live in Sheffield, but definately worth a phone call. Good Luck!
  12. Hi Claire, just looked at your website for the annoying little flying thing, just out of curiosity, and it says under construction and to find someone else - bad move, why didn't you put a phone number or e-mail address? First rule of business - always go the extra mile, don't send your potential customers to someone else - 9 times out of 10 they will stay with them! Good Luck for the future - hope you will be offering chauffeur parking at the airport, we used the manchester airport one this year - it works really well and its worth the extra couple of quid! :D
  13. La Romantica, definately -We've been going there for the last 16 years, the food is gorgeous, try to sit upstairs, You'd be well advised to book, it gets really busy, even on weekdays - need I say more!
  14. We went to Chachas a couple of weeks ago and i really can't fault it, the food was great, good choice of starters and main courses. It was a saturday night so it was £9.50 per head - Bargain!
  15. Portofino on Chesterfield Road, tried tested and enjoyed many times - well priced, not too expensive with great service. If you fancy something a bit pricier try Nonnas on Ecclesall Road.
