  1. Hi Strixy. Not sure if you've found anybody yet, but if not, try StraightCurves in Chesterfield - their website is http://www.straightcurves.co.uk They do knitting courses for beginners, but also have social crafting and 1:1 tuition. They can do left handed and right handed - and even taught a complete numpty (me!!)
  2. If you're unsure, why not have a drive around at different times of the week/day and see what you think? Or if you have the means (and a bit more drastic, but if you're keen & not 100% sure), rent in the area before you buy? (appreciate that's not always an option)
  3. Hi I live a bit further round Rowan Tree (Laurel/Maple/Elm/Birch) and have never had any issues at all. Like Tinfoil, our house backs on to a footpath but we don't have any problems - I do occasionally hear the dirt bikes but nothing that I would consider a nuisance (and I am outside a LOT!) In fact I'd agree with everything Tinfoil said - Bull & Badger car park sometimes looks like there's a few dodgy characters but no worse than anywhere else and as bluedolphin said it's mainly kids/teens. I love living in Killamarsh
  4. It's Chesterfield rather than Sheffield but I can highly recommend Straightcurves I learned crochet there last year, but they do knitting, sewing and all sorts of other stuff too EDIT: I've just realised you posted this a month ago, but may still be looking?!
  5. I haven't posted on SF for a while & lots of rules have changed so forgive me if this is in the wrong place... I have just given my garden a bit of a makeover and now have a green 330l round compost bin that is surplus to requirements. Main issue is that it doesn't have "front door" any more, just a hole, but I'm sure you could be creative to make a fix quite easily. Collection from S21 (I'll even give it a hose down before you pick it up!)
  6. Shazeroo the barn was taken over in October and many of the rules have been dropped thankfully! Darkrose, have you contacted the barn with your budget to see what they can offer? We're having our reception there in September and they have been very helpful in sticking to our waaaay below average budget (we're just having a BBQ style buffet with no sit-down meal).
  7. Can't remember exactly but it's a lot... Think up to 200? We're having 120 and that's easily accommodated. I would assume it's available all year... email them, the ladies that run it are Clare & Karen orchardgroveltd at hotmail dot co dot uk (obviously replace the punctuation, I've done it like that to stop them getting spammed!) They were on about having a wedding fayre in 2012, I'll try and find out the date and let you know.
  8. I presume that the vet will have checked for a microchip? I don't live anywhere near BSL but my cat is similar to that you described and I've got all upset thinking the worst I hope that the owners can be traced, and thank you for what you have done for this pet.
  9. Not sure if you're sorted but Whiston Manorial Barn is a 15th Century Barn out towards Rotherham. Not sure of the numbers it holds though...
  10. I'm not a huge fan of them, but the chairs in our venue are hideous (think brown school chairs!), I'm just pricing up the cost of chair covers vs hiring better looking chairs!!!
  11. It's Rotherham rather than Sheffield but we're having our reception at Whiston Manorial barn. Think it's £350 for the venue hire, then they'll work to your budget for food etc. Bar prices are very reasonable too, and the ladies running it are fab & flexible with requirements, not like some of the venues we spoke to where you had to have a specific package.
  12. This is all fantastic news, really happy to see that things are on the up for you. Sounds like you're getting back to your old ways too Keep it up & hopefully there'll be seconds of that Christmas dinner. As an aside, it's lovely to see so many of the "old" posters crawling out of the woodwork & posting on this thread
  13. I ordered my bouquet from ebay (seller lynnlifting) and it is absolutely beautiful. I'm so pleased because I thought I was being "cheap" by having silk rather than real flowers but the ivory roses are beautiful and look realistic, plus I'll be able to keep it after the wedding day
  14. Thanks for all the help - feeling much calmer about it now!! Just need to figure out where to put it now!
  15. I was doing my weekly shop in Morrisons at Halfway last night and picked up a Magnolia Soulangeana that's approx 12in tall and looks in brilliant condition (lots of leaf buds etc). There are no other name details listed other than M. Soulangeana, and the picture on the front is of a typical pink-tinged cream Magnolia flower such as you get when you Google this name. The label says that it will grow to between 2 and 4m tall, however everything that I can find on the internet says closer to 6m and now I'm panicking a bit about what I have bought!! I don't have room for a 6m tree!!!! Some of the other Magnolias in the shop had names such as Susan, but this one didn't. Anybody who can offer help or advice as to what I might have bought would be much appreciated!!
