2014/2015 Snow & Winter Weather MegaThread

That was the nickname of a lass I used to go out with... -
Went on Sunday night, booked online and due to "website snags" ended up with an extra ticket for Monday. Girl on the front desk couldn't help, printed off the ticket for Monday along with the ones we needed for that night, thus "validating my website purchase"! She advised I call the helpline...automated bull**** service of no help whatsoever. So..11.50 + 11.50 + 8.50 for 2 tickets, overpriced berr and coffee from incredibly limited selection, nothing of note in the way of snacks, sound quality a little poor for me, general air of pretention. Verdict. "Showroom next time eh?" , "Aye."

Thanks for the tips folks, gotta work quick as she has moved onto the Ponsfords website...jaysus!, (no prices quoted as it is too vulgar!!!)

Could anyone recommend someone/somewhere that does quality repairs to leather covers. My car keys (assisted by my fat backside), have just punctured an otherwise healthy sofa. Now the thing cost a lot, twelve years ago and has aged better than me so any repair would have to be high quality sympathetic (I believe the term to be), not just a vinyl square stapled in place. My other half is already on the John Lewis website searching for ways to spend money... Please help me.

If this wasn't so condescending it would be laughable. The overwhelming majority of UK trees come from sustainable plantations providing forestry work for many. If this thought really makes you sick, then you lead a lucky life. I guess you never have fresh flowers in your house though? Buy it, Use it, Throw it away. - That's Christmas! Aaah sorry all - I've been a bit of a cynical old troll type here - I realize that. Have just forked out £55 for a tree from Just Natural in Crookes which is lovely though.

Leftfield Primary where my kids go have closed until May based on this forecast, I blame the teachers for this snow....and the Daily Express. The Daily Mail emphasizes that this weather is "IMMIGRANT WEATHER FREEZING BRITAIN'S PENSIONERS", <REMOVED>. I hope we have no weather for the foreseeable future - it may add weathermen and ladies to the ranks of the unemployed but it'll shut a lot of <REMOVED> up.

Costa coffee Broomhill. Pants!!
Marmite Man replied to wassamadda1's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
'tis true. Thing is if there is a market for a product it will flourish. Me, I'm happy with something hot and wet in the morning,(steady), other will fancy the ease of a Quickocinno,(might patent that), and the erstwhile seek the real deal. Appreciate the economy of scale thing too, do you shop at Tesco? The thread I think was about the place being a bit rubbish, which is all subjective nonsense. Moaning about a brew. ffs. ps Moaning about someone moaning about moaning about a brew - even worse, sorry all. -

Coffee snobbery! You'll be telling me that Yorkshire Tea isn't the "real deal" from the gentle dale slopes next, or even that I'm a hopeless tu rd because I quite like lager, that my pork pie and Branston preference isn't "authentic". Get over yerself. -
Neighbour using all the grit.
Marmite Man replied to pimpindonks's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
Are you suggested the grit supply is infinite, a true supposition if we assume an infinite universe I guess, but if we restrict ourselves to thinking on a planetary scale then grit, as such, is very finite indeed. No trollin'. I know I'm an a*se. I just can't let it lie. -
Up the numbers and up the entrance fee to cover costs and a donation - people who want to do the run,(myself included) will pay. Honestly.

Dog hotel type place? Try Rainbow Hill Kennels up Wortley way - Our two dogs have always been well cared for over the years. A double kennel is about £14 per night I think.

Strike Action - Public Service - 30th November
Marmite Man replied to qazitory's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
Doom, Agree with the majority of your post but your last point doesn't hold water as far as teachers pensions are concerned, the whole scheme is completely viable as it stands, there IS enough in the pot. The extra contributions the govt are imposing are going elsewhere, where I don't know, I'l be chucking an extra £130 a month into that particular black hole. Not having that without "a hissy fit" or "throwing my toys out" as has been quoted elsewhere. -

Divide and conquer seems to be working, it did before and it will again. I've worked he majority of my life in the private sector and the past 8 years as a teacher, what strikes me, (hah!) is that this isn't just about this "golden pension" ******. ( if anyone including the gov't cares to check, teachers pension funds are adequate for future provision), to me its about the absolute lack of mediation. Imposed increase in pension contribution - this money ( an extra 134 a month for me) is not going into a pension fund just a govt purse. That just isn't right. Increase in retirement age - would you like your 12 yr old to be taught in by a 67 yr old? Can that work? What other choice do I have but to strike? There isn't a table to take another offer too. There has been no negotiation. Apologies to those affected, please don't see this as a public v private battle. I appreciate how the private sector pensions are performing (or not), its the same with mine from my prior job. Don't turn this into a I haven't so you can't battle. There's more to it. ps if it snows next week, feel free to put all teachers into stocks and hurl the usual! -
Laser hair removal - recommendations?
Marmite Man replied to Baldyshef's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
Hi I know that there is a now a private hair removal service in Rotherham Hospital. If you look at the hospital website, there is a link to Careplus, it tells you about the service and also prices. I also know there is free consultation and you could even e-mail to enquire rtaher than phone if thats your preferred option. I know someone who has been and is very pleased with the result. -
Thanks for the views, not much in the way of offers though. Thought some dodgy **** might come through for me but still time. Looks like its back to the old town to meet Stella in City Square! On a side note, how does the football public of Sheffield vote: a) I hope Stoke win, that Man City are ruining football etc... b) I hope Man City win, that Stoke are all about the throw ins... c) I don't give a ****, my club is not where it belongs... Cheers ps I predict a)10%b)2%c)88%. -if you aren't ersed about the cup = give me yer ticket!
