The website in your signature doesn't validate... -
If you've got Win 7 Professional or above you could try running it in Windows XP mode.

Upgrade RAM but original will go to waste :(
Nazo replied to GreenyGreen's topic in Computer & Tech Chat
Not really. While PAE allows more than 4GB in theory, Windows may not be able to actually use it. See this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3_GB_barrier My XP Pro laptop has 4GB ram, but only 2.8Gb is usable by Windows. -

What version of Windows are you running? You won't see any benefit of more than 3GB on the 32bit versions anyway. -
Really? I installed Win 8 in Virtual Box with no issues at all. It complained about the colours but it didn't seem to stop it working.

No, in some cases disabling third party cookies will disable some functionality if the web site uses a third party service. Posting comments on blogs is a common one, my GMail extension for Firefox won't work without enabling third party cookies either. It's probably better to disable them and then set exceptions when required though.

I have a Kobo touch, which I bought mostly for the improved PDF support over the Kindle. It's a pleasure to use and there are plenty of books, both free and paid for it. I like the open nature of it but if you just want to buy books from Amazon obviously you'd be better off with a Kindle.

What do you call it when you click on a link
Nazo replied to margarete's topic in Computer & Tech Chat
This is not such an uncommon thing. The owner of a web site let's their domain expire, someone else buys it in the hope that people will end up there when they attempt to visit the old site. It's annoying but not particularly malicious. -
Internet explorer pop up what does this mean?

Oh yeah, phew. I should have read which post was quoted before starting to panic -

No, no, no. That's like turning your virus checker off because it keeps telling you about viruses. Cross site scripting is a kind of attack performed through web sites, if you are receiving that warning it's possible something could be wrong with SF (possibly through one of the ads) or something else is amiss. Anyway you shouldn't disable the protection. -
That message is a standard asp server generated error message, it's definitely an error in their website code.

I'm quite impressed with what I've seen so far but it's still early days. I think the focus is much more on tablets / hybrids rather than desktops. MS know that people (especially businesses) aren't likely to upgrade from Win 7 any time soon. This will be a complement to it rather than a replacement.

That's only because you've got an old one, the battery life on the iPhone 4 is much better. Most likely the new ones this year will be even better.

Does the new iOS 5 mean the end of Blackberry?
Nazo replied to JPMiddleton's topic in Computer & Tech Chat
Blackberry are in decline anyway but I don't think this one feature will make a huge difference, the lack of a physical keyboard counts against iPhone in this regard. -
LA Noire - A huge step forward in games
Nazo replied to PuressenceUK's topic in Computer & Tech Chat
I don't see the two as being mutually exclusive. See Mass Effect 2 for example. And are you suggesting you didn't enjoy the hours you put into GTA? I see it as being more an issue of value. I have no issue with short games as such, Max Payne 2 was pretty short but it was so much fun I replayed it numerous times.
