  1. Could do with your help please…. I’m conducting research at the University of Sheffield (Faculty of Medicine) looking at the use of online symptom assessment tools in General Practice from the perspectives of older adults. Just wondering if anyone on here (aged over 60) has made use of the Doctorlink symptom assessment tool? If so, I would love to have a chat with you please to note your user experience, as well as your thoughts on the use of such tools in general practice. Currently several Sheffield GP surgeries (list included below) are using this tool as part of their online service package. Older adults face distinct barriers when accessing GP services even though they are amongst the highest users of the service. Therefore, your insights will be invaluable and may influence policy makers and technology providers. If you wish to participate in my research (1-hour friendly chat followed by optional workshops), please feel free to drop me a message / comment. Alternatively, you can email me at ibby.ullah@sheffield.ac.uk. Feel free to share this post with friends/family who might also like to take part. 3. Blimey, very harsh comments - I wonder whether they look at or care about SF?
  4. The owner's risky move down to the new location is proving to be successful. Good luck to the guy.
  5. Nice food at reasonable price - been there couple of times and it was good as expected.
  6. Wouldn't mind paying that extra for quality fish and chips - it's so rare to find them nowdays.
  7. Hiya - the current VAT threshold is something like 73k - if a business say hypothetically takes 100k sales, does the business pay VAT on 100k or on the difference of 27k? Cheers
  8. Cafe Masala certainly deliver to S5 - http://cafe-masala.co.uk/
  9. Deeply saddened to hear this news but my lasting memories of this very talented and dedicated lady were that I've always found her to be very approachable and welcoming with a smile. Sure to miss her unique presence in our local politics and beyond. Heartfelt condolences to her family and loved ones. RIP Jan Wilson.
  10. Safron Club on West Street are also open for (Indian) lunch.
  11. What a load of cobblers! I suppose these people are also "bit weird": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_converts_to_Islam Talk about bliss of bigotry.
  12. No, that was a response to the myth that Islam is only prevalent in the so called "backward" countries. It is a faith, like other great religions such as Christianity, that transcends all boundaries including the "forward" West.
  13. It might surprise you to learn that whilst most common religions in the western world are in chronic decline, the trend for Islam is completely opposite. In fact, Islam is actually the fastest growing religion in the western world, guess where the most?...in the USA out of all place!!! Constant Islamophobic reporting by the western media (particularly CNN and Fox News) has backfired and prompted many western people to investigate the true messages of Islam for themselves, and for some, accepting it as their new faith. And much more closely to home, Sheffield is regarded as the convert capital of Europe with a sizable indigenous English Muslim population.
  14. I don't really know his views but I do know that Islam prohibits homosexuality and gay marriages just like Christianity, Judaism and millions of other contemporary and ancient religions. Nobody can really hide those facts. BTW Dr Zakir is not a qualified Islamic scholar thus anything he does says has to be taken with a pinch of salt and critically examined and refuted if required. My philosophy is to ignore the personality and tackle the ideas and rationale behind them.
  15. I am a local Sheffield lad love! Evidently, you're very trigger happy about making unfounded presumptions about people and once again, you are way off the mark like you are with your views about Dr Zakir Naik. My viewpoint is simple, if you disagree with him - which you are perfectly entitled to and I admit I do so on wide range of topics - then like me go down and challenge him yourself with your superior set of arguments rather than cheaply slagging him off on a forum.
