Please can I ask everyone to keep an eye on their neighbours , especially the elderly. As well as food and drink and ensuring they are warm. They might need prescriptions ordered or picked up to keep them well.this is particularly important where the power is still down as some of the gp practices phonelines and switchboards are not working for routine calls.

In your eyes - What would really make Sheffield better?
lorientgirl replied to Arun's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
A tram route that goes to Northern General Hospital, and connects to the other hospitals. Developing train stops down the SW to the city corridor. Develoing train stops down the NW to the city corridor. A cheap ticket that allows you to go on all buses and trains and trams whatever company in the south yorks area. A decent market , a mix of Chesterfield and Camden. A council that does things beause they work not because they are party political. I can dream:: -
the 30 bus route ends just by the Hare and Hounds. you can see it from the bus stop

Anybody know where the best place in Sheffield is to go for these? Thanks.

just checked the sheffield LEA website , they have a sectiion for parents who educate children at home and also a curriculum for meeting the national curriculum standards. There is a number to ring for advice.

I think that there are quite a few home educators in Sheffield. I think you have to contact the LEA as they have to ensure that all children are receiving an education including those who are educated at home. you have to show what and how they're learning. I think that the education otherwise link will give you ideas for topics and lessond and how to meet the national curriculum. i know some kids who have been home educated and they are really nice, bright and well adjusted. good luck

I really enjoyed Captain Corelli's Mandolin. (the book is so much better than the film) Birdsong is good too.

As far as I know ,it is still offered by Square Mile at Hillsborough Barracks and you can do it at a very reduced rate if you are on income support or similar. It is run by Sheffield college and they do other shorter courses there as well.

Someone once told me that the best revenge is to live well, so don't let is stop you doing anything you want to do , otherwise "they" win
