  1. How old are you Hibbsy .my step brothers played for Handsworth I also went to the youth club at the back of church I played football with the st josephs lads on the rec ( not the team ) I played for the Norfolk
  2. I worked on the building of the houses on halfway drive from station road up to the double top pub in the 70s when I worked for Sheffield council we built all the roads,footpaths,drains etc . The bus would drop us near the Queens pub then we had to walk the rest of the way to get to site if you missed the bus we didn't work that day
  3. I would like to here things about Handsworth village I lived there for the first 50 years of my life, football teams ,cricket teams ,pubs ,schools , the Handsworth cup ,anything about Handsworth
  4. It's about time that the so called TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT was sorted out you get to the roadworks and that's were you see the first DIVERSION SIGN its rubbish

  6. our bath hung outside near the back door. My mum would fetch it in and put it in front of the fire then fill it with water from the Yorkshire ranch. The worst thing was emptying the bath on the back yard

  10. We had a toilet block at the top of our yard it used to freeze in the winter we used to put a parrafin lamp in it to try to stop it . Used to sit on the throne with my snake over my shoulder . GREAT TIMES
  11. We had a Yorkshire range fireplace in the 60s we used to warm one of the oven trays then wrap it in a towel and put in bed like a hot water bottle it was lovely and warm .

  13. I remember you Dave Nick now lives in the flats just above the old city school on the strad he some times drinks up Handsworth Sunday dinner time his sister Lindsay still lives on medlock road opposite the old crown
