  1. Thanks everyone for your help and support. Unfortunately no one came forward with the bags they had left behind ... but just hope whoever got them really needed them I've told my Mum about the cancer support centre and I'm sure it will be a great help to her to beable to nip in when my Dad goes in for chemo. Unfortunately the results came back not too good, His cancer can't be cured and they can't operate on it either. It's spread from his lungs to his adrenal glands so all they can do is chemo and radiotherapy to try and stop it spreading any further. xx
  2. Thanks Melthebell I'm sorry to hear that your Dad is also fighting cancer and hope the outcome is a positive one x Katei I didn't know about the cancer support centre but will take a look and tell my Mum and the rest of the family about it. He's only recently been diagnosed they know it's in his kidney and lung but don't know what sort it is yet but we'll find out on Wednesday when he goes for the results of his kidney biopsy. They think it could be asbestos related. Once we know they can start treating it ..I think it's the waiting to find out that's the worst part everything seems so uncertain at the moment.
  3. I've had a virus not sure if it's anything to do with the flu job I had a couple of weeks ago, sickness and pains in my back and side
  4. did anyone accidently pick up 2 bags of food that was left on the floor next to the check out in farmfoods hillsbrough yesterday? My parents went shopping yesterday, first time since my Dad has come out of hospital, recently been diagnosed with kidney and lung cancer and I guess his mind was on other things and he left half of his shopping on the floor next to the check out. He did phone the shop when he got home but no one had handed it in so I'm guessing that someone picked it up. Wouldn't normally ask but my Dad is feeling pretty bad about it and feels he's let my Mum down, they are on the bread line anyone so if anyone did pick it up by accident and wouldn't mind giving it back it would be very much appreciated.
  5. Rehome or Sale? - Sale Reason for Rehome / Sale - No females to keep him company Sale Amount £15 Location S33 Type of bird to Rehome / Sell Swedish blue drake With or Without Cage? without Is the bird hand tame yes Age & Sex 14 month old male Colour blue Live in / Lives out and has free range of our garden & pond Any Current or Historical Health Issues None Temperament Is used to our dogs, the cat and our hens Any special knowledge needed Arte could really do with some company, other ducks, he likes the odd swim in the pond but is more of a garden bird. He's been wormed and we feed him on the same food our hens eat. General Information you can share He's a drake so doesn't make as much noise as females would do. We did plan on getting him afew female friends but due to illness in the family this hasn't happened. He's a very handsome young drake all blue in colour, can be caught although he tries to avoid it, picked up and he doesn't bite. He's the only duck we have ever had so don't know how he compare to others but the blue swedish breed are supposed to be a one of the heartiest of all the breeds, with a calm disposition. A good first time duck. Have lots of photos of Artemis please email if interested. Pet home only, not to eat
  6. I have to disagree, the same company own the new bath hotel well they've now changed the name of it to the samual fox in Bradwell. Which is now almost completely empty each evening as none of the locals go in amymore due to the snooty attitude of the management. That IS NOT how a country pub should be run, over priced food where the locals arent welcome a pub that is purely there for tourism and which has lost its friendly atmosphere and has absolutely no character left in it at all. I drive past every day it's always empty, They must be losing a fortune!
  7. Yes if dogs were allowed in would make life a lot more easier for us. We walk the dogs in Hope so could nip in for one after.
  8. Born in Sheffield but has 'made in Buxton' stamped on my bottom
  9. If you are looking for anyone to supply you with fresh free range eggs from pure bred rare breed hens such as faverolles, sultans etc, you can't beat the eggs from the Folly in Hope. £1 per half dozen and yolk that is a rich orange yellow/colour and so tasty not like the pale ones you get from shops. Look out for them on Eccles Lane
  10. My 14 year old cat has alwayd done it, can get him to lick or nat the dog if she laid close by, Also tried gently scratching my dog in the same place and she does it, She's more fussy though and wont lick the cat.
  11. Living in the Hope Valley and having eaten at most of the pubs that do food including the one you are taking over, the thing that puts me off the most is having to walk through smokers that stand in the doorway smoking or around the entrances blocking people from going in. That's one of the main reasons I avoided your pub. I also dislike going into a pub to eat and finding it full of noisey kids that run around. Good beers, and guest beers on offer, good traditional food at reasonable prices that is what's missing in the valley. Good luck with your new venture.
  12. No sorry, Our move has been put o hold and her address is in one of my diaries which is somewhere in one of the many packed boxes in the garage.
  13. Just finished Moab is my washpot by Stephen Fry .. bit slow and long winded imo Now reading Long walk to Freedom by Nelson Mandela - very good so far got to the bit where he's just been caught after being on the run for 17 months. Some of the xhosa words are virtually impossible to pronounce, lots of vocal clicks. I was surprised to learn that he started a milatary wing of ANC and trained his army in Libya.
  14. The imaginarium of Dr Parnassus 3/10 so very boring
  15. Moab is my washpot - Stephen Fry 7/10 a bit hard going at times
