  1. I think that word must be"Torque" it's an engineering term for how much turning force is needed to open the penknife.
  2. I was in a band with Sladey in 1976 when I was 17. During rehearsals he used to send us down to the chemist for Do Do Asthma tablets, he liked the buzz you got when you mixed them with Vodka.
  3. My band played at his 40th birthday party on a boat going up and down the Thames, it was a boozy and quite raucous party with a few comatose people at the end of the night but Jarvis was an absolute gentleman, totally down to Earth! He asked us to do a "Nautical but Nice" medley of songs including Smoke on the Water and We are Sailing.
  4. Silver Machine by Hawkwind, Woodhouse Fair early 70s
  5. Hi Lizzy. Thanks for posting, I'm so sad to have it confirmed. I've sent you a private message. Take care xx
  6. I saw MO at the City Hall in 1975 with Ralph Armstrong on bass and Narada Michael Walden on drums. One thing I do remember is Narada Michael Walden had a guy sat behind him dressed in Eastern clothing all through the show and he would hold his hand after every tune. Probably his Guru blessing his performance!
  7. I had my first one in 1980 when I had a duodenal ulcer. It was old technology then and it was very uncomfortable, felt like swallowing a hose pipe. I had another one a few years ago just to check everything was OK and the new fibre optic cameras are so much smaller. It was not at all unpleasant and I was able to look at the monitor screen to see what my insides looked like. No discomfort whatsoever, you'll be fine!
  8. Haven't touched a drop since 1997, just got bored with it! The two biggest problems are trying to get a decent cup of coffee in a lot of bars and being a free taxi for your mates!
  9. It's perfectly safe to give someone your Paypal username, it's only your email address after all
  10. This is just the thin end of the wedge, we'll be hearing this kind of story more and more as foxes continue to encroach into our lives. I doubt that the family whos son had his hand chewed up and lost a finger will think this story was "hyped up" These stories are true and not based on deluded media propaganda!
  11. I live pretty close to that family whose babies hand was chewed off by a fox that got into their house while he was asleep in his cot. There have been other reports of foxes coming into people's houses and attacking pets and small children. Do some research and maybe you'll realise that it's stupid to encourage these animals just because you have some deluded Walt Disney image of foxes!
  12. A couple of years ago, my wife bought a little used runaround from a high street trader, a couple of weeks later she got a letter from DVLA telling her it needed a VIC check before they could issue a logbook. Bit naughty of the trader not to tell her it had been in an accident but apparently, at that time, they weren't obliged to. (The laws have now changed and they have to inform you) All they do at the VIC test is check the VIN plate against the details the DVLA hold on the vehicle to make sure it's not been "cut and shut" or ringed. It took 10 minutes and, if everything's kosher, they give you a reference number to send to the DVLA then everything's cool again. It's not an MOT, they're not particularly looking for defects unless there's something obviously dangerous. It's an inconvenience but a lot less hassle than I thought it was gonna be!
  13. I used to walk down Birley Spa Lane to Carter Lodge, past my mate Dave's house, if he was at home wagging it, he'd knock on his window and we'd sit in his house smoking fags, drinking tea and playing guitar, mostly songs off Ziggy Stardust and The Faces first album. It wasn't wasted because I became a professional guitarist and I'm still making a living at it!
  14. We eventually stopped our 12 year old going to Guides because of things like this. The kids were given sweets if they attended the Church Parades etc but singled out and humiliated if they didn't. They were asked if they had been baptised and the ones that hadn't were basically told they were going to hell...stuff 'em!!
  15. These guys are great http://www.wesellanyit.com/ I've bought 3 refurbished Dells from them for me and the kids, great value, great service and really nice machines.
