my grandad worked at brown baileys . he was a plate layer.Harry Cooper was his name . he worked for a lot of years probably all his life till retirement round about 1965. I used to meet him from work at the big doors past the aquaduct next to the white hart pub ,that was run for a long time by my great uncle Wille Bagshaw whos sister nellie was my grandmother married to Harry , they lived in Harding street. my father was Harry Cooper jr . -

hi , yes i knew David & Roy Allen , they had an elder brother i think was Thomas . our back yard backed on to the spare ground at the brick kilns .my name is Alan Cooper .my brothers are Colin & Micheal .my grandmother used to own the grocery shop at the top of darnall rd /main rd , Ellsie foster was her name , next door to Grays the butchers. used to spend many a happy hour playing in the kilns .

hi robbiet, i used to live next to the brick kilns you mentioned ,on Harding street. my grandparents lived next door to us, they drank in the Albert pub .Harry & Nellie Cooper, with ner brother Percy bagshaw.

i used to help deliver milk when i was young with a shire horse and dray. cant remember name of milk man but the horse was called dolly. -

Teddys shop was ran by ted firth and his wife , i lived nearly opposite on greenland rd .
