  1. Woops must have been half asleep! Oh dear wonder what's gone off :/ x
  2. I live just off London road and just heard About 5-6 ambulances shoot down London road. Not sure what's happened:/ hope all involved are ok! X
  3. We were there on Friday and it's sad how people can disrespect and steal from such a lovely worth while place. I hope Hannah is returned safely very soon and the scumbags are dealt with! Horrible gits!
  4. Just passed this, most of gleadless road from the black stock to the wyvern pub still blocked off! Sad news! Rip to the poor fella x
  5. Iv lived in and around firth park all my life and it's changed massively! Iv just took the plunge and moved to my hubby's stomping ground gleadless townend/just in herdings and I love it and can honestly say I would never go back to firth park area. While I was there I would have said it ok but I suppose iv learnt since moving it wasn't great I know mearsbrook well and would say if you like it there maybe firth park wouldn't be the best move. Don't want to slate the area as like I say I grew up there but I'm glad we moved. Good luck and hope you find your perfect home xxxx ---------- Post added 07-10-2013 at 19:15 ---------- Just seen some ones recommended hakenthorpe, burley and intake. All very nice areas with good access to both Rotherham & manor xx
  6. We saw this one evening last weeks. We were driving up prince of Wales rd from manor top towards gleadless. Hubby seemed to think it was a reflection from a building maybe with solar panels or loads of glass?! xx
  7. With some of the stories the star print I recon if a delivery van or driver got done over it would be a front pager! I don't recall seeing anything like that or even hearing from the grape vine any thing like that! Sorry to break it to you guys but the 'Vally' is fine! :0 shock horror!!!
  8. I suspect it is to do with all the steps and bankings up to a lot of the houses on the valley. Some are awkward to get to. X
  9. We moved to s14 a few months ago. I was initially worried as I'd seen a lot of bad press but we needed a house. We love our house and can honestly say its very quiet and peaceful. We've had no problems our neighbours are nice, some nicer than others but where's perfect?! X
  10. Keep onto them! I also felt very bullied! The person who did our viewing got all the paperwork out before we had discussed the property and said if you want it you have to sign here now!! When we asked to go away and think about it ans get back to them he was fuming and started making us feel like this was our last option ans the council wouldn't let us bid anymore! Turns out we were the 3rd people to be offered the house! Although theu lied about that too. I bidded in august and was rang and offered the property in Dec! (sorry I thought it was after Christmas it was before) they said I had been offered it ages but hadn't responded?!? If you need me to write all this down for you for back up its all logged with the council just pm me! They cant get away with treating people like this!!!! X
  11. We viewed a property with arches through the council's property shop at the beginning of the year! It was a beautiful big house in perfect location we were also urgently needing a home but bit was in awfull disrepair! On the viewing we asked why water was dripping from the light fitting and the response was the guy flicking the switch showing is it did still work though! My husband (an electrician) was mortified! There were no smoke alarms! Plaster and artex crumbling from walls and ceilings! Wallpaper in the kitchen soaking wet with damp. All the skirting boards were rotten and the windows were all cloudy and couldn't see through them :/ needless to say we declined it! I was gutted! The decor we could have seen to as were not afraid of hard work and my hubby would have done the electrics but the damp and mould was a total no no as our son has chronic lung disease! A day later the council rang to ask why we had declined the property as arches had said we didn't like the decor!! I was fuming so rang them to complain and had a right bollaking off the bloke on the phone asking what do you people want?! You need a house we offer you one?! Unbelievable!!! I hope they sort your problem dont be bullied and get all your babies health professionals involved xxx
  12. If people wast to live in a 4 bed house and are happy to pay for it then thumbs up! Its those who want a 4 bed house who a) dont need it and b) don't pay for it that will loose out. No one is going to take a 3 bed house of a family who have a need.for it whether it's housing benefit or not! If people are in the right size house for them then hey are fine! If not I'm sure the council cant apply the tax until they have been happily removed. Most will probably get a priority local to the area they are in anyway. People will have some rights in all this I'm sure. Xx
  13. Thats a total benefit cap for all the benefits you.claim such as income support, council tax.benefit etc not just housing benefit! Xx ---------- Post added 07-03-2013 at 07:03 ---------- You look.at the local housing allowance as it carts.from place to place. In Sheffield a single person under the current rule is allowrd.a 2 bed house so.can claim.up to 70 per week but I'm guessing that will go.down once the new rule comes in so will be less. So if I wanted a 5 bed house at 650pcm with 3 Ki're.I get 3 bed rate at 495 per month and would have.to pay the rest my self! X ---------- Post added 07-03-2013 at 07:04 ---------- Sorry with.all the mistakes.my phone changes things! You get what I mean lol x
