  1. Hi Craig (?) - What if you're not a member and you're female? Are you allowed - or is it still the old rules of working mens clubs? (Not been in one since I lived in Skeggy and we always had to be signed in there)!
  2. personally - not my cup of tea - but you're right - so many artists seem to go to Nottingham and Leeds Arena's and miss Sheffield out, surely they could just stop here on there way up the M1.
  3. I went Saturday - I got there about 1 and it was very busy. Parking was tricky - but if you don't mind a walk you could park at one of the car parks near the Emergency Services Museum (£1 all day on a sunday I think). Lots of stalls- lots to do, last year sunday was a bit quieter - if you went later in the day it would be a bit quieter (not sure what time it ends today though). x
  4. Come along to your local park for this years Winter Wonderland Many activities and entertainment - Santa's Grotto Craft Stalls Fire Juggling (display - you can't have a go at this one!) Festive Wreath and Lantern Making Fairground rides Food & Drink Stalls Chapeltown Silver Prize Band Firework Display at 5pm
  5. DO you have photos of Firth Park - current or old which you'd be willing to share for use in a calendar of the park. We are planning to choose a photo for each month when we have our AGM on Thursday 17th September. We want fantastic photos for each month showing the park through the seasons. If you'd like to bring them along on the day - come to the Sure Start building in the park at 6.30pm on 17th September. You can add your photos to our facebook page or respond on here and I will pm you. (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Friends-of-Firth-Park/208784725828413?ref=aymt_homepage_panel) We will be having refreshments and reviewing photos 6.30-7pm and holding our usual meeting from 7pm (approximately). Thanks everyone
  6. An Evening of Music from the Films (inc. Star Wars, My Fair Lady, West Side Story and many more) with The Hitchin Concert Band at The Firth Park Methodist Church (Stubbin Hall) on Saturday 29th August at 7.45pm £5 per person £4 concessions For tickets telephone 0114 2431652 or 0114 2422513
  7. Oh thanks for that I didn't know about town hall all summer. Just need to skive off work one day then!
  8. Sheffield Town Hall tours on the sat / sun - always wanted a nosey around. Or there's 3 Masonic Halls opening their doors in Barnsley! I'm off to D H Lawrence country / related places I think.

  10. Ever fancied a go at Bowls - then pop along to the open 'day' between 2 and 4 pm on Sunday 29th March. https://www.sheffield.gov.uk/out--about/parks-woodlands--countryside/parks/city-district-local-parks/firth-park/bowling-greens.html
  11. No problem Blue Dragon - I already know about the group anyway (as we know each other) - just wanted to make sure you knew the link wasn't working. I always find Sheffield Forum to be a great way of advertising things to a wider audience - I always use it for our Friends of Firth Park events and even if people don't reply you can tell how many times it's been viewed by Forum members. See you soon x
  12. I can't see a link Blue Dragon! Am I being blind?
  13. The Lord Nelson's on Arundel Street does I think
  14. I've been too. Interesting (if small) brewery - pie was nice + plenty of beer flowing!
  15. Once again the Friends of Firth park are organising a Christmas Sing-a-long on Wednesday 17th December. It's from 6-7pm, weather permitting it will be outside in the ampitheatre area near the Clock Tower (Ripples in the Pond site), the Clock Tower will be available if the weather is poor. This is a free event run by the volunteers who make up the Friends of Firth Park and all are welcome to come. Songs will be a mixture of traditional Carols and popular Christmas songs.
