It's Easter So Are You Having A Hot Tick Bun ?
Norbert replied to *Wallace*'s topic in General Discussions
Ok, perhaps we can test this by you coming up with a product, the symbol commonly found on it, and a suitable company that has the power to change the symbol on it? Then we can make up a story and see if we can get people riled up. -

'You've got to remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land. The common clay of the new West. You know... morons.' -

What will be next is another made up story about Banning Christmas cakes? Or calling them Tickmas Cakes? -

Unsurprisingly I'm an atheist too. Anything that weakens religion's power over us is good by me. All the major Abrahamic religions in this country were secularising at the same decent rate at one point until the increase in hate for certain ones caused the followers to cleave back together and become more devout. Careful what you wish for folks. -

We established on the last page that the story isn't real, like almost all similar stories, it's just stuff to trigger the simple minded. All religions are equally made up though. Do you follow one? -

My apologies, but even I'd turn for him. -

Apropos of very little, I'm English but if I watch an England v Wales rugby match I want Wales to win as a mark of admiration for the passion and commitment they have/had for the game. The recent documentary Slammed was absolutely brilliant. I also say that as an ex player. -

What if the tick was made of lovely chocolate, hand painted by George Clooney? -

I really don't, you'll have to spell it out for me I'm afraid. -

Other religions don't celebrate Easter. If there was a Star of David on a bun it wouldn't be celebrating Easter as Jews don't believe in Jesus as the messiah. Saying that if there was a Darwin Fish on a Easter bun lookalike I might buy it over a hot cross bun for a laugh, only once though as hot cross buns have horrible candied peel in them, which is just taking the pith. -
Having followed up on the useful links provided by peak4 I’m coming to the conclusion that: Photography used to be racist in that it did little to address capturing detail and colour tones in dark skin, and subsequent processing and printing made it even worse. The Shirley Card was a problem but hardly surprising as it was introduced in the 1940s when America was overtly racist. It took too long to change though. These days most of the problem is lack of skill, thoughtlessness, and insensitivity. The technology is no longer inherently racist. To answer peak4’s question about when the issue was posed to me, it was recently, and to do with phone pictures in low light (and with back lighting) that made a mixed bunch of people look like some were missing. I think that to say modern photography is inherently racist is now a tad ridiculous. But I could be wrong.

Yes it's been a wonderful welcome back. If I put everyone who's contributed so far except for you, the site owner, peak4 and hackey lad on ignore then SF might be actually useful and a nice place to be. I shall attend to the useful input of peak4 after taking advantage of the nice morning weather. Good day sir.

Good luck with that.

Thanks. Phone cameras could easily have an algorithm that improves things, my Samsung doesn't seem to have one but perhaps other phones or cameras do? Skin tones with 50% reflectivity should by rights be easiest to capture, but I'm sure I'm missing lots about the subjective nature of pictures and photography.
