Opinion Of The Moor Xmas Tree 2019
bazjea replied to bassett one's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
i didn't realise that there was a Christmas Tree on the Moor Have seen the one outside the Town Hall which was awaiting decorations. The lights are supposed to be switched on SUNDAY !7TH NOVEMBER between 2 30 -6 00pm inthe Peace Gardens. How can so many complaints be made when the the lights are not even on Some people are not happy unless they come on here slagging the council None of them give any idea what they think should be spent. . -
. I seem to remember at on time, there were steering locks that needed a code instead of keys. Surely this would slow down getting the lock open Unless all car thieves are safe lock pickers
-
What is wrong with fitting the well tried Steering Wheel lock, ? instead of the alarms which mostly seem to be ignored by passers by. Anyone trying to remove the steering lock will have to carry a hack saw around with them, and make some considerable noise Have had one for some years now and no trouble. By the way, I live in Hillsbough

Anyone know what the huge light is at Crosspool? It appears to be mounted on an arm' that is pivoted from the top of the mast. It is clearly visible from Malin Bridge area

bazjea replied to yoda1's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
As far as I know there isn't an Asda in Hillsborough There is a phone shop opposite the arcade and there is one on Bradfield RD just below the Charity shops There is also a kiosk in the Arcade that has phone bits and pieces -
There appears to be a new shop opening in what was the ShoeShop. Name already in place. The Works. Selling Arts and Craft stuff Toys and Games Books etc They already have a shop in Meadowhall. Makes a change from charity shops, hairdressers, nail bars estate agents etc.

using bus pass early because of hospital appointment
bazjea replied to florence kat's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
I couldn't use my OAP pass on the tram last week, when going' to the Hallamshire for a medical appointment The conductors reader would not accept my pass. So had to pay full fare. -
I think The Bradfield Police house .was across the road from the Plough inn A few yards walking away from Bradfield

It was originally a pub,the Hillsborough Inn Try the link below photos of holme lane corner. The oldest one dates from the early1900s http://www.picturesheffield.com/frontend.php?&searchterms=holme+lane+corner&action=search&keywords=all%3BCONTAINS%3B%holme%%3BAND%3Ball%3BCONTAINS%3B%lane%%3BAND%3Ball%3BCONTAINS%3B%corner%%3B#rowNumber0

I would say that 7 fatal accidents in 20 years plus numerous serious and minor incidents on a 4mile section of road. is very high, especially as you describe below " Its not an accident prone stretch of road" Do you still stick to your description
-
It certainly is an acccident prone area .There were serious accidents in 2006 2009 2017 They are just the ones that i can remember I don't know where you get " Its not an accident prone stretch of road" just have a word with anyone who lives on that stretch road . They will be able to tell you of many more accidents some of them fatal
