  1. It's human nature to be inquisitive, thats how we learn to survive as a species. Victorians were notorious at producing postcards of accidents and disaters.
  2. I think that some people have a better sense of direction than others, those who don't should'nt be suprised if they get lost.
  3. Sheffield Park run attendances Saturday 22.3.14. 51 - Concord 138 - Graves Park 108 - Hillsborough 42 - Castle 415 - Hallam Total - 754 Rotherham Park Runs Saturday 22.3.14. 40 - Rotherham 91 - Rother Valley (record attendance) Total - 131
  4. The other side of the footbridge leads to a path that passes the old Handsworth Colliery and onto Finchwell Road at Handsworth. This is an old footpath, historically used by miners walking from Darnall and Handsworth to reach Orgreave Colliery many years ago. It can be seen on old ordanance survey maps. The area around the footbridge was cleared in order to get the large plant equipment to site so the old footbridge could be safely dismantled and the new one lifted into place. This task was completed over one weekend. The new footbridge actually replaced an existing old Victorian cast iron bridge. I can see the logic of constructing a station here, don't forget the relatively new Barrat Housing estate at Handsworth is within walking distance via the footpath.
  5. Probably better parking in one of the car parks near the Herries Road entrance then walk past the GP centre, following the red line painted on the ground, walk past the Sorby Renal outpatients on the right, then go through the automatic doors into Vickers corridor, (Don't go through the doors imediately opposite) then turn left and walk up Vickers Corridor, then take your next right into the Radiology (Xray) dept and walk down to the reception at the bottom.
  6. Yeah there could be a crocodile hiding in a pothole, theres one on the loose in Bristol apparently
  7. I did Sheffield Castle on Saturday, it was Ice, Ice, Baby . . . luckily I didn't go A over T and managed to stick it out, had a good run, suprised I was just a minute slower than my last run there. Don't worry about pulling out some other runners decided to walk round rather than run.
  8. Yes I think that advertising board is dangerous at night its too bright, the intensity should be dimmed. It doesn't help that the street lighting in that section was also out making the area dark and the sign even more dazzling to oncoming traffic.
  9. Makro have been bought out by Booker on the 30th May 2012, the Metro Group of Germany sold it's 30 Makro UK stores and all operational assets to Booker Group Plc. Booker is the UK's largest food wholesale operator whilst Makro was quite small in comparison, effectively glorified supermarkets whilst Booker was strictly wholesale.
  10. Have you tried Spheremania near Nottingham? spheremania nottingham You can do both harness and aqua sphereing (Zorbing) either on your own or with someone else.
  11. Sheffield did have a Green bin system for recycling garden waste, but due to cuts in government funding the council decided to end free garden waste collections to save money on waste services. The service is still available but now cost the householder £60.00 for a fortnightly service between May and November 2013.
  12. I don't think people are missing the point, what if you and thousands of other choose to opt in to access unfiltered content (Porn or other content David C feels offended) what happens to the information collected about who's opted in are these people effectively put on an unofficial sex offenders list? for what just looking at legal porn? long before the intetnet I remember as a youngster visiting the local barbers there was girly calenders on the wall and mucky mags on the table
  13. No need to have proved your innocence because you were never guilty of anything in the first place, just ignore it.
  14. Sheffield Traffic Signal maintenance was subcontracted out to private companies and not Street Force A lot of Sheffield's traffic lights harked back to the 1970's & 1980's with many only being replaced when Supertram was built in the early 90's many of these are now getting on in age.
