  1. Thanks for your comments, he is still missing unfortunately and we are distraught. We have had a number of reported sightings, some quite positive, which suggest he is still in the area (Rainhill, Merseyside) but nothing definite, so we aren't ruling out him travelling further afield since the only confirmed reports were of him heading East towards the M62 last Saturday night. We have contacted the Highways Agency and there are no reports of dogs killed on the motorway around that time. All dog wardens and kennels as far as Manchester have been visited, we have dozens of people out looking for him as we are originally from the area and still have lots of friends and family over there. He has been reported on Dogslost, here is the page http://www.doglost.co.uk/dog-blog.php?dogId=60422 And we have a Facebook campaign with regular updates, over 800 members and growing fast - please join and share with your friends! The more people who know about him across the North of England the better as he could be anywhere by now. https://www.facebook.com/groups/FINDHARVEY/ We are offering a £500 reward for his safe return. He is neutered. He is chipped and tagged with our telephone numbers. Thanks Shaun
  2. Hi all, a long shot perhaps but you do hear of dogs finding their way home over incredible distances. We live in Sheffield, we were away visiting friends on Merseyside last weekend with our miniature poodle Harvey. We went out for a drink with friends and their children looked after him for the evening. Unfortunately when they had a pizza delivered he saw his chance and bolted, obviously looking for us. We are absolutely devastated but have been leafleting the area and have had a couple of possible sightings. However as he was seen heading towards the M62 at pace, and he is fast, the thought crossed my mind that he could have been heading for home and it wouldn't surprise me at all if he made it back to Sheffield, he's a clever and resourceful fella. So, a long shot but please keep an eye out for Harvey and share the news if possible to give him the widest coverage. He has some quite distinctive markings, is tagged and chipped Shaun Thanks Shaun and Jude
  3. This is a great piece of advice. Is it at all possible to reconcile the situation with the family? Are you absolutely sure that there is no going back, even if you have to swallow your pride? A single male isn't high priority on the housing list so do everything you possibly can to avoid homelessness in the first place. Best of luck.
  4. I think it was a sensible piece of advice. Neighbour disputes are stressful, complicated and potentially expensive. If your neighbour is really not prepared to discuss why they have blocked access or willing to negotiate an amicable solution, you need to find out whether it is actually a right of way, you have described it as such but do you know for certain? It may be that you have been using your neighbour's property as a short cut and they have decided to put a stop to it. You can get a copy of the deeds for your neighbour's house from the Land Registry for £3.
  5. I can recommend The Miner's Standard in Winster. £5 per adult per night and good food should you choose to eat in the pub, a short walk from the lovely village too http://theminersstandard.com/
  6. From the website it looks like 24 hour charging is in place: http://www.q-park.co.uk/parking/qparkparkinglocatorvw3377/parkingdetail/parkingid/1882
  7. Many thanks Martss, hope you enjoy the show on Friday I know I will
  8. That's great thank you for the info. I could have looked myself but Bookface is blocked at work If you hear anything back about start times please post it
  9. I have much the same question about the Levellers on Friday night. The website states that gates open at 6 and I think I read that the show starts at 7pm, but that will obviously be the support act and I have no idea what time the Levellers set will begin. I'd guess it could be between 8 and 9.
  10. Can't you take your dog with you? Depends where you are going of course but there is always the option of holidays within the UK - Scotland, Cornwall etc. Alternatively if driving abroad it is relatively straightforward to take dogs on the ferry now with the Pet Passport scheme. Our dog has been all over Western Europe from Spain to the Balkans, I couldn't go without him. Whatever you do, good luck.
  11. They are not the police, they are not the Courts and they are not the Local Authority. They have no more authority to issue fines than you or I do, and they know it. Ignore any further correspondence, pseudo-legal letters and threats of court action and they will eventually go away.
  12. It is the same at our surgery, the number is engaged solid from 8.30 so realistically the only way of guaranteeing an appointment is to queue outside in the rain at 8.15. Not ideal if you are ill! The system seems to have been introduced a number of years ago when the government introduced a new target requiring all patients to be seen within 48 hours. The surgery's interpretation of this is to only give out appointments on the day and after all those appointments have been allocated then it's tough, you have to try again tomorrow. Now strictly speaking the target measures the time from asking for an appointment until you get to see a doctor, so the surgery should be including those people that they turn away - the clock *should* start then, but of course they don't count those people in the statistics. As a public service it's abysmal, but their priorities are meeting the targets above all else.
